Purpose
The purpose of this report is to solve the case of Jack the Ripper and explaining why Joseph Barnett is the true murderer.
Profile of a Killer
Joseph Barnett was born on 1858, in Whitechapel, England. He lived in a family of 7 (2 parents, 5 kids). His father, a fish porter, passed away when Joseph was only 6 years old, and shortly after, his mother abandoned the family, leaving Joseph to be raised by his two brothers and his sister. He had a speech impediment known as echolalia. By the time he was 20 years old, the Garnett brothers all took on their late father’s profession as a fish porter, at their local market. He was a porter for 10 years, until July of 1888, when he lost his license for theft. His relationship with Mary Jane Kelly, began in April 1887. The two lived together in Millers court. Kelly, while a prostitute, lived on Barnett’s earnings, since he did not want her on the streets. Losing his job, led to Kelly going back to the streets, which troubled him. He lost his job from theft, and at the time he must have told himself that it was okay to break the law so he could please Mary. Catching Mary in the act of sexual intercourse with another man would have angered him to where he would murder her savagely, and later he would tell himself he did it out of anger. The same can be said about the murders of the other women, he would have condemned the prostitutes, with the ideology that what they are disrespecting the values of the society, and that Whitechapel is better off without them. He may have had a religious motive behind it (instead of a norm conforming one), where he may have done it for the greater good, and that they are in a better place
