Both paintings have the same style known as Regionalism. Regionalism came out of an early 20th century and mostly died out by World War II. Regionalism is a realist modern American art movement where the artist rejected city life and focus on rural life – natures, agriculture and small scale industry. In painting Good Lord Gives peace, the withering corn stalk, and the ground shows the viewers that the older man is praying on a farmland. Both paintings have a form of a black cat. In painting Good Lord Gives Peace, the older man is shoeless and outside. The only other things, other than the older man, in painting is a single withering corn stalk behind him and the black cat in front of him. In painting Good Lord Give Me Peace, the older man is naked in his room and surrounded by an empty table, an old bed, a cat on the window, wallpaper peeling off from the walls and newspapers. The other thing that makes this two artwork different involves color. The use of verity color in the painting Good Lord Gives Peace gave the painting to have more texture. the use of shade and tint in the painting Good Lord Give Me Peace gave the painting the reflection of light.
