Adolf Hitler, the Nazi leader, was one of the most powerful and infamous dictators in the 20th century’ (History, 2009). Adolf Hitler did not have an average childhood. He lived financially stable, but his family dynamic wasn’t. Hitler’s father, Alios, had a short …show more content…
temper and Adolf always angered him. His father didn’t support his artistic career, either. So, when Alios died, Adolf moved to Vienna to start his dream career. Soon after, his mother died (BBC). Some believe there are many things that contributed to Hitler’s thoughts. He fought in World War one, which gave him battle experience. Also, his views on German nationalism caused part of his racial views. Adolf believed that the German’s deserved large families and should have power over the whole globe. Hitler acted upon those thoughts and views in terrible, disgusting ways. He attacked Poland during 1939, causing World War II (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2016). During the holocaust, over 6 million people of different ethnicities and racial backgrounds died. Hitler suspended basic rights, allowed detention without trial, and any military opposition was punished, After all the damage he did, he killed himself to avoid the consequences that awaited him. Similarly to Adolf Hitler, John Stalin ruled by fear.
Joseph Stalin was a very influential person leading up to and during World War II.
Stalin’s rise to power led to his greatest achievements. Stalin rose to power after helping Vladmir Lenin escape from Tsar’s army. Lenin then appointed him as general secretary of the Communist party. (“Joseph Stalin Biography” 1). Stalin took control through his popularity and the widespread support for him. Stalin revolutionized Russia and turned it into a global superpower. He imposed a five year plan to transform the Soviet Union. (“Joseph Stalin” 1). He forced rapid industrialization and the collectivization of agricultural land. Stalin caused a famine that lead to millions of deaths. Stalin kept his position of power by instilling fear. He punished people who didn’t agree with him by killing or exiling them to labor camps. (“Joseph Stalin: National Hero” 1) Stalin encouraged people to inform on one another which led to distrust between citizens. Ultimately, his paranoid thinking led to his downfall. He had thrown away his allies with the West and Nazi Germany had defeated him. Joseph Stalin modernized Russia in ways that no leader ever had before. Although Hitler and Stalin were strong dictators, Winston Churchill helped move his country
forward.
Winston Churchill was an influential person in World War II due to his patience and attitude. Churchill was an excellent prime minister to many. He became prime minister of United Kingdom in 1951. Churchill introduced The Mines and Quarries Act of 1954 and The Repairs and Rent Act of 1955.(Winston Churchill Biography 1) The act of 1954 improved working standards for miners, making it safer to work. The act of 1955 established new housing standards. In 1953, Churchill was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. He was knighted for his books and assistance in WWII and his many political speeches. Churchill was known for giving many influential speeches throughout his career.
During WWII, a few powerful people were Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill. Hitler and Stalin caused the deaths of millions of people, while Churchill improved his country. The world as we know it would be extremely different if these significant events did not happen.
