1. Most of the main characters are introduced in the beginning of the story except for the murderer who the reader learns about more and more through the story.
1. The emotional meaning of the story has a large impact on the how how the plot is worked out. In the story the lawyer is continuously trying to convince people that the murderer is going to murder as soon as he get out of jail and in the story that is what happens. Without this part of the plot the story would not have much of an emotional impact on the reader.
5. In the story there is a lot of opposition between the main character and his surroundings. Throughout the entire story the main character tires to tell everybody that
the resale of the murderer from jail is not a good thing and that he suspects the is going to murder someone else. Instead of listening to the lawyer everyone he talks to dissent believe it will happen and does nothing to prevent it.
4. If the story was narrated by the lawyer the reader would probably have gained a closer relationship with the story and the main character. The reader would get to see more clearly the emotions of the main character and what he was thinking. One of the things the reader might lose if the story was narrated is the background that the author mentions throughout the story.
4. The theme is a traditional one in the sense that it is about the main character and his struggle to get people to believe what he is saying and everyone he speaks to belies different
5. One of the objects that seemed to have symbolic meaning in the story was the notepad or the pencil used. I was unable to find what these how they are symbolic but it is interesting that the story stats out with the pencil and notepad and then it ends with them as well where the layer is trying to figure out what to write down.
3. The author has added many details in the sorry to make if fit the time period that it took place. On the the things the author did was the dialect of the characters. The way the characters spoke gives the reader a sense of where and when the story took place.
