Brutus suggests that anyone who opposes Caesar's death must also oppose Rome and hate their country. He tries to make them feel guilty. On the other hand, Antony uses his persuasion to win over the commoners. He twists his promise around to backfire on Brutus as the real killer. He handled his appeal better because he focused on getting the commoners to trust him . Brutus also wanted their loyalty but the commoners found it hard to trust him since they'd already heard Mark Antony's cry. Ultimately they believe it. Through this he masters the appeal to emotion by explaining how close he and Caesar were and how terrible it felt to lose him when he only wanted him to be great .At this point Brutus is failing miserably because the commoners aren't really on his side . Mark Antony makes them feel good about themselves by pretending to be their friend and it has got him much further than his counterpart Brutus. This turns into a competition of manipulation while nothing they tell the people is actually from the
