Gaius Julius Caesar is debatably one of the most famous Roman figures in history. One reason for his popularity could be his well-known assassination on March 5th, 44 BC, also known as the Ides of March. Many adaptions have been written of this event, but the two ancient authors who have accounted the death are Plutarch and Suetonius. Neither of the authors were present at the murder (seeing as how neither of them were born yet), but instead received the details of the event from someone who saw the incident. Both accounts are probably correct, but came from different sources. Caesar’s death showed the high stakes of the Roman government and threat of being an enemy of the Senate, was influential to the time period, and influenced many things long after Rome fell.…

Pomey became envious of Caesar which eventually leads to a war between the two. Although Pomey's army was superior, he was killed in Egypt. After returning to Rome, Caesar became a dictator and while in power he relieved debt, reformed the Senate to represent Rome better, reformed the Roman calendar, and…

The Republican period of Roman history began in 509 BCE after the last Etruscan kings was dropped. The Republic was controlled by the Senate, which was an assembly by dominated upper-class families. This dominance by the aristocracy led to tensions between the social classes, especially among the lower classes who fought for equality in both the economy and the government. Despite these inner struggles, Rome's military power strengthened throughout the 5th and 4th centuries BCE and by 270 BCE they commanded the entire peninsula. 264 BCE brought the beginning of the three Punic Wars fought against Carthage over control of the western Mediterranean. Through the manipulation of various textual forms, structures and language composers persuade their audience to adopt their perspective. As the only priestesshood involved with the College Pontiffs, the Vestal Virgins had close contact with the emperor and influence in the politics of Rome. The Pontiff Order had complete control of the state’s religion, thus acting as the as the emperor’s religious council and assisting him in all religious affairs. This role in Rome’s monarchy came with immense power and a high position of status. It was not until 104 B.C.E. that the Pontifex Maximus began to be an elected position; before this change, a pontiff was appointed membership. In 63 B.C.E. Julius Caesar was elected Pontifex Maximus – a position that was then held by every emperor thereafter (Lendering livius.org). In the historic novel Lord of the Flies, written by William Goling, A plane has crashed on an unhabituated island in the Pacific as they are trying to flee from the war. Although at the beginning of the story the boys are obsessed with law and order; but near the end of the book, the boys get into a short-sided and life changing war; just like the United States in 1945. Although the boys, and the US thought they were getting into a smart war they were surly mistaken. The US invading Vietnam was not a smart idea that ended up hurting America for years to come. The invasion put our country in debt, sent our veterans home to have horrible lives, and it caused for the death of millions of innocent civilians and of our soldiers.…
Julius Caesar is “without a doubt the most significant figure in the history of Rome” for a vast majority of reasons (Knight). Julius’ full name and official title was “General Gaius Julius Caesar” and remained so throughout his entire life (“Julius”). When Julius Caesar was born is not agreed upon between most historians. But the closest approximation is around 100 B.C.E. Julius Caesar’s family was apart of the Roman aristocracy. He died around 44 B.C.E. He was murdered by a group of “60 influential Romans” and was stabbed “23 times” with a dagger when he entered a “senate chamber” (Knight). His assassination was planned by his “friends” “Brutus and Cassius” and the famous line “Et tu? Brutus” comes from his death…
