Justice And Injustice In America
I believe that Americans have a choice whether they want to stand up for others or to stay neutral, we are not required to fight the battle of others but in my opinion we should help others in need. If you don’t stand up for justice of all people you are technically letting it happen but it doesn’t mean you support injustice or propose it upon others. If you see injustice happening what do you do? Do you step in or do you let it go? I think it depends on the situation, if it is someone that can’t fend for themselves then yes I believe you should step in, if someone is harming another to better themselves someone should step in. I think in certain situations it would be best to stay out of the conflict and just let it play out, but there is …show more content…

These protest aren’t really justice in my opinion, they only support the increase of the rights for certain groups of people and not everyones. There are people destroying cities and wreaking havoc which is injustice, they’re destroying honest peoples shops, vehicles, and personal assets. For example, transfer trucks which contained thousands of dollars of merchandise, was burn’t to the ground during some of these riots. How is that justice? These people don’t care who they hurt or what they have to do to get what they want, there are protest that have shut down highways by standing in the road. To combat this problem there was a law passed that you can legally hit protestors standing in the road. These protest that shut down roads aren’t fair to the people trying to get to work and other places that they have to be. These protest aren’t fighting for equal rights for all, just certain groups that they think are worthy, they are violent. People that are protesting the protests are assaulted by the others protesters which is not right. The government and people of this country should stand up together and shut these protest down before they get worse. So are these protest really accomplishing anything, do you still agree with them or do you think there should be a change? I believe we should fight injustice when it is unfair for others, but if you’re too scared to stand up for other I believe you have a choice whether you want

This quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr reminds me of current events that are happening in America today. The people of Ferguson, Missouri is as an example of this problem. The people have turned to violence because there was no justice for the killing of an unarmed teen by a police officer. They rioted in the streets, protesting and are demanding for justice of the murder of Michael Brown. The police tried to keep things under control but chaos escalated more and the more time passed without any consequences for the officer who killed Mr. brown.…

Social oppression is socially supported mistreatment and exploitation of a group or category of people by anyone. Oppressors usually suffer from the need to be Socially Dominant over others in order to retain power or assert power (Sidanius, Jim. Social Dominance: An Intergroup Theory of Social Hierarchy and Oppression. Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 2001.). Social dominance is commonly the root cause of social oppression. The United States has always claimed the moral high ground on human rights and equality, yet our history is fettered with situations of discrimination and oppression of many different demographics. Our American culture is greatly diverse and continuously splintering off into new groups and subcultures with many different lifestyles and beliefs. The government has always had to consider religious, cultural, and biological differences in the population when writing laws to promote health, safety and prosperity for all citizens. Currently three major groups within our society are struggling against social oppression to retain or gain their human rights and civil liberties. Many forms of Social oppression are occurring within our society today, women in many states are struggling to control their reproductive rights, while men and women are fighting for their right to marry who they love, and minorities are being racially profiled and murdered for wearing certain styles of clothes or being assumed as criminals.…

I learned many new things from this video. I learned that many people died in the black’s non-violent revolution for freedom and rights. I also learned that most African Americans were paid an average of only about $700. African Americans were denied education at all white schools, and were only allowed a less than average education at black schools. Under the Supreme Court ruling in Brown vs. Board of Education, a number of African American Honors students integrated Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Every day they had to endure abuse from a huge angry mob that protested integration and wanted segregation. I feel that I would not have been able to put up with all that abuse. Those nine students that integrated Central High had great determination and never gave up hope. I also learned that it was a very long and hard struggle for all blacks during the Civil Rights Movement. The KKK terrorized blacks and killed them. Many African Americans were killed before they won the rights that they deserve. I was very proud of all the African Americans that participated in things like the Montgomery bus boycott because it showed that they weren’t afraid of standing up for themselves. I felt joyful that they always had the courage to stay non-violent, because if they turned to violence, the situation would not have turned out the same way. Now I will do anything that I can to eliminate discrimination of anyone because it is a very serious and destructive…

I was there to challenge police brutality and racial profiling. I was not just there to challenge an idea, I was there to create a difference, and I acted on my own ideas. By attending the protest, I was able to voice my opinions, while doing so in a peaceful way. What prompted me to act was the unfairness and inhumanity of this idea. The problem of police brutality and racial profiling has never impacted me personally, however it impacts the lives of so many people around us. I am sure everybody has heard of the incidents occurring on the news or other media, known victims personally or even witnessed the events. However only a few people become motivated enough to step out and stand up for what they believe…

What the American Justice System addresses is that sometimes the system pushes toward the wrong side. For example, it seems that the American Justice System would rather excuse a couple of innocent men and to punish an innocent man. Sometimes, they don’t have enough evidence to say who did a crime. So, the Justice System has many flaws that need to be addressed.…

Martin Luther King Jr., a world renowned civil rights activist once stated that ¨The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.¨ An arc is a smooth curve, composed of numerous points that connect to make something bigger. There are no sudden breaks or holes in an arc. The moral arc of the universe is a smooth path of righteousness, allowing different aspects of humanity to prevail and create a much bigger shape. When morality is followed and prioritized, the world can live in peace and harmony, without chaos. However, the world is not perfect due to justice. The rules of justice contradict the smooth arc of morality, abruptly breaking off from the connected line. At the ¨elbow of justice¨ there is a sharp turning point between…

On the one hand, fixed punishment will have a deterring effect on society. ‖Individuals knowing that they will be subject to a certain punishment if they are convicted with a given crime will reconsider committing this act in the first place. ‖This deterring effect also leads to social stability and security, through minimizing the number of crimes committed. ‖If people knew they would be able to convince the court or the jury of reason for having committed the crime they are accused of, penal decisions would be largely arbitrary. This would result into criminals getting away with their crimes and into a high level of injustice caused by the subjective approach of different courts。…

Chaos. Love. Heartbreak. Loss. These were emotions many in Nazi Germany had to deal with, often at the same time. Markus Zusak’s novel The Book Thief perfectly illustrates the struggles and injustices these people had to deal with on a daily basis. The novel follows Liesel Meminger, a young girl living with foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann, in fictional Molching, Germany during World War II. She became best friends with Rudy Steiner. One day a young, Jewish man named Max Vandenberg showed up at their home begging Hans and Rosa to hide him. They agreed because Max’s father was Hans’ old friend. Even though Liesel feared Max at first, she later becomes very close to him creating a special bond. One day, Hans gave a Jewish man bread and as a consequence, Max had to leave for both his and their safety. After this, Liesel began writing her life story. One night, while in her basement, the street the Hubermanns lived on was bombed, killing everyone except Liesel. Everyone living through those times had to endure many terrible injustices, however, while some sat down and let the injustices go untouched, others stood up and fought for change. The most effective of these fighters was Liesel Meminger.…
