Sometimes, people speak out against injustice and change happens immediately. Other times, they cannot see the ripple effect their actions may have on future generations. Although you're told to take a stand for yourself, there are some times when taking a stand is not appropriate. An example of when you shouldn’t take a stand is if you get arrested and you try to defend yourself, it could get worse than it was to start. If your mom is telling you to do chores, don’t try and take a stand because you don’t want to do your chores. It could result in even more chores than you had to begin with.
Racial injustice is so common throughout the world today. Barrington Irving had a goal: to be the first African-American to fly around the world solo. Everyone thought just because of his ethnicity, he couldn’t accomplish this big goal. “Everyone told me I didn’t have enough money, experience or knowledge.” Although everyone disbelieved, Barrington beat the odds and accomplished his goal. He is now very well known and many children and adults look up to him hoping that one day they can accomplish their goals
