Topic: Design a Juvenile Correctional Facility
There are many juvenile correctional facilities all over the world, in different countries. When teenagers who are under eighteen commit a crime, instead of sending them to prison, they are usually sent to these kind of juvenile correctional facilities. This gives them a chance to change themselves and regret about what they did, in a less strict environment like prison. I am going to design a juvenile facility on my own; I want to give those teenagers another chance to change themselves, to prove that they now know what is right and what is wrong, so that they can be accepted by the society again. Since all the teenagers are under eighteen, I believe that they still have a lot of potential to do good for the society, they deserve a second chance, not going to jail and getting looked down at for the rest of their life. …show more content…
In my juvenile facility, I am going to focus on exercising and learning in order to help those teenagers improve themselves.
The reason of doing this is that I think teenagers should have more chance to play or study with their peers, it can make them more productive and have more motivation. First, teenagers are free to use all the sports facilities including basketball court, tennis court, running ground and gym. The purpose of setting up so many facilities is to let teenagers enjoy sports with their peer, which a great way to train their teamwork and their willpower. These are the essential factors to be used when they come back to the society, without these skills they will easily be eliminated in the cruel
society. Also, I want to let the teenagers learn some skill in order to make a living out of it after they get back to the society. For example, I want to teach them some basic rules in the office, like being polite to their work mates and be on time every day, these rules may seems simple and common, but those teenagers may not know all of it. These rules can be the key for those teenagers to keep their job after getting back to society. I think getting a stable job is definitely the first step of them to get back to the society and start a brand new life, also it’s the best way to prove their strength and win other’s respect. I think every teenager in my facility should know that they did something wrong to the society. Some of them killed somebody; they may have destroyed a happy family, which is irretrievable. Therefore, every teenager must do something good to repay the society. Apart from living in my facility, every teenager must do at least fifty hours of volunteer work in order to repay the society, I think that is the least they can do to repay the society. I hope that they can learn throughout the process of doing those volunteer works, to let them know and realize how difficult it is to make a living in the society and how many good things such as a family was destroyed by their hands. I hope they can regret what they did by doing volunteer work and never commit any crime after getting back to the society. I believe in my juvenile facility. I have confident in it, I hope it can changes those teenager’s mind completely and make them a better person. After all they are just teenagers, they deserve a second chance in this world. I hope doing exercise, learning and volunteer works can achieve this goal of mine. Because the key factor to become successful is to know how to work with others and work hard. Doing sports can give those teenagers a strong willpower and it can surly help them after they are released and get back to society. On the other hand, doing volunteer work and studying give them the knowledge they need to survive after getting back to society. Since they have to live in the facility for couple years, it is easy for them to lost track of what is going on outside, I think studying can help them keep in touch with the outside world.
