Chapter Emergency Procedure Team
The chapter President is in charge of the Emergency Procedure Team. The team also includes: Vice President-Standards, House Chairman and Chapter Council Adviser.
Whenever an emergency involves a Kappa, chapter members must immediately contact the appropriate emergency service — medical, fire or police — and then notify a member of the Emergency Procedure Team. Chapter Council and the Chapter Council Adviser should formulate alternative contacts and procedures in the event a team member is not available.

Unhoused Chapters
In dealing with a medical emergency or death, the chapter President implements the pre-determined chapter communication network (e.g., telephone tree). A chapter meeting should be held as soon as possible.
Dealing with the Media in an Emergency
Do not make any statements to the media, campus or community, print or electronic. In the event a chapter member is contacted by the media, contact the Director of Marketing and Communications at Kappa Kappa Gamma Headquarters. If she is not available, contact the Fraternity Executive Director.
When a crisis first arises, remember that good communication with all affected audiences will help ensure a successful outcome. Because initial responses delivered to the public can ultimately tarnish or enhance the image of an organization, it is important to handle the media with confidence, facts and sensible approach.
Only the President or Chapter Council Adviser should speak for the chapter. Be mature, brief, responsive, dignified, sensitive, careful and composed. Do not say, “no comment,” but rather, “we are gathering facts and when it is appropriate, I will make a statement.”
