If you don’t get the proper momentum while rotating it, the blade will not be able to make a full revolution. As the blade rotation starts to diminish the blade will waver to one side or the other and it will almost always bury itself in your arm, but the other issue is the angle of the karambit. If the retention ring is situated on the middle joint (medial phalange) of the index finger, when you attempt to ‘flip’ the karambit, because of the angle that the blade is traveling it could cause it to embed itself into your forearm. The retention ring needs to be on the main portion of the finger between the base of the knuckle and the first joint (proximal phalange).
