Kathleen Messier's Case Study
I represent Kathleen Messier in the above-referenced matter. Ms. Messier has recently contacted me and to discuss your letter inquiring whether she would be interested in a Section 32 settlement of her case.

After discussing the matter in length with her, I am authorized to make a settlement demand in this matter in the amount of $85,000.00 plus the value of an MSA. This would be for a full and final settlement of this matter. Please let me know if this settlement along these lines would be acceptable.

Coronary artery disease is one of the most prominent forms of heart disease. It occurs when the coronary arteries that supply the heart blood become narrowed, and eventually occluded. This narrowing typically takes place because of plaque build up due to cholesterol and other fatty substances being ingested, also called atherosclerosis. This thickening of the artery wall can take many years, eventually completely inhibiting blood flow. Because the blood flow has stopped, little oxygen gets to the heart, and the myocardial cells therefore die. This is when a heart attack ensues, also called a myocardial infarction.…

Mrs. Actor, while we value the years of loyal service you have provided the Mack Organization, we are unable to match the salary increase that you are seeking. The only increase that the company could consider giving you is a cost of living increase. If you send us your reviews, showing that you have received high review scores, we could then consider giving you a 3-5% cost of living increase based on the performance review ratings. Also sending us a letter of endorsement from your supervisor would be helpful in getting you this cost of living increase as well. Once again your continuous loyalty to this company is greatly valued, and appreciated, and we hope that you will consider this counter offer as long as all the paperwork is filled and meets the standard (Nkomo et al., 2011).…

Jane Jones had advertised in the Yellow Pages that she was able to provide representation in uncontested divorces, wills and estates, as well as other services. It is outside the paralegal’s scope of practice to deal with matters involving wills or family law, including divorce. This was a direct violation of the Paralegal Rules of Conduct, “A paralegal shall not advertise services that are beyond the permissible scope of practice of a paralegal” (Rule 8.02(3). As a paralegal, it would be important for Jane Jones to avoid misleading any potential clients so that they do not assume that she is a lawyer. Jane Jones’ business name would have also been a violation of rule 8.03 (1) and (2). “(1) In this Rule, "marketing" includes…

I choose to analyze the Suzanne's story about learning to be an advocate for her own healthcare. The first genre I noticed was the ability of the writer to making me picture Suzanne walking bare foot in the grass, and then again when she was crying in the hospital waiting room. The author described the scene. The second genre was the allure- something that made me interested in reading the story. The author starts off the story by saying that Suzanne moved to Colorado form Ecuador and that she knew learning English would be the key to her success. Another genre that interested me was how the author described Suzanne's experience when she couldn't communicate with her health care provider. This made me want to further analyze Suzanne's background. Lastly, the story left a dominant impression. If Suzanne hadn't stood up for herself, she could have had long-term damage to her foot. This shows how being an advocate for your own health is very important.…

Political culture plays a huge role in Texas politics, but what is political culture? Political culture is a set of attitudes, beliefs and sentiments which give a meaning to a political process. It includes moral judgments, political myths, beliefs, and ideas about what makes for a good society. A political culture is a reflection of a government, but it also incorporates elements of history and tradition that may influence today's population. Political cultures matter because they shape a population’s political knowledge and actions. When you look at the state of Texas as a whole you see two political cultures that really shape Texas’s politics, government and public policy. These two dominant political cultures are described as idealistic and traditionalistic.…
