Nurses share the joys, pains, and triumphs of their patients. Everyday nurses show-up for duty, receive their patients, and without hesitation begin to become a valued member of an extended family. I initially went to school with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. At the time, I believed becoming a doctor was the only way I could ultimately give back to my community through my passion for science. The decision to pursue the field of advanced nursing, developed after sharing my concerns about healthcare in the Mississippi Delta with my local family nurse practitioner.…
Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…
Nursing is a very challenging and interesting career which involves hard work and commitment. Since I started studying Health and Social Care, my interest in Nursing has grown. This has inspired me to study Child Nursing as I believe that my studies can be practically applied. I am also keen to make a difference to people’s lives, whether caring for children or supporting parents. My interest in and appreciation for this career has been encouraged by family members who work in the NHS, and who have made me aware of its less glamorous side, as well as the positivity of caring for others.…
My intended career is to attain a career in nursing where I can express my care and patience to those who need it most. I also grew up around family friends who have become nurses, so watching them do their best at their job was quite the experience. This is when I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. After I get this far, I hope to pursue my wish to become…
After seventeen years in the nursing profession I realize each day is a learning experience. As my experiences evolve so do some of my beliefs and values. What follows will be a discussion of how I was called to nursing and my vision for my future in the nursing profession. I will also discuss my…

The decision to start any program of study takes carefully thought out process. I understand the time and dedication it takes to not only further my education, but to gain a solid foundation to provide quality patient care. As I start this journey to become a nurse practitioner, I look back to my first year as a brand new nurse in an emergency department. Aware of but naïve to the high demands of being an ER nurse, I am all the more grateful for the strong mentorship while I grew from a novice nurse to the nurse I am today. To this day, I love the work that I do and I respect the staff who make it all the more possible to make it through a long shift. During the two years, I have learned the importance of having a strong educational background along with clinical practice. I learned the importance of identifying and treating the stable and the critically ill. Consequently, I have had the privilege to serve and provide care for patients in varying age groups with differing illnesses. Through these encounters, I have learned I still have the drive and motivation to be on the path of…
For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a registered nurse. I come from a family where wearing scrubs has always been the normal work attire. My mother has been a registered nurse at a highly accredited oncology hospital for over twenty-five years, and my father a pharmacist for about twenty. I have aunts who are nurses and uncles who are doctors. For me, the health care profession always just seemed to be my future. When I first began my actual nursing journey I was worried that I had possibly chosen the profession simply because it was so common in my family, and that I never even really considered any other career. Luckily for me, my first day of clinical in “Introduction to Nursing” sealed the deal. It wasn’t the environment, the schedule, or even the salary that lead me to feel confident that I had chosen the right career path for myself. Instead, it was the overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment that I felt when I saw how my care and compassion could help another individual during a time of need.…

I cannot say becoming a Registered Nurse has been my dream career or something I have put a lot of thought into. Nevertheless, I can say that it is a career that has caught my interest faster than any other career I’ve considered. I have found myself indecisive about my career for a long time, but this career asks for qualities that I’ve embraced my whole life. This career requires a variety of things prior to becoming one, but there are many opportunities that come with it. A Registered Nurse plays a major role in the healthcare team, but also in their patient’s life.…
While at times emotionally and physically challenging, being a registered nurse has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. We are not just caregivers, but also role models for the community we serve and I am proud to be a part of this noble profession. Seeing first-hand the positive impact nurses can have on patients and their family members makes all of the stress and long hours worth it. I started my career four years ago on an adult medical/surgical unit. There, I was able to put in to practice my nursing school education and enhance basic nursing skills such as time management, talking to patients and families and working together with the interdisciplinary team to provide the best care possible.…
I am Jeylin Moya I have been a nursing assistant for eleven years. I worked everywhere and in every department except the morgue although I do have the experience in post mortem care. However, my job can be stressful at times but I love the rush I get from a combative patient to comforting a loved one. When I first became a nursing assistant, I couldn’t handle the bodily fluids and pressure ulcers. After being a nurse assistant for so many years, I feel immune to everything a patient say or does. Nothing surprises me anymore I lost hope in humanity. Nevertheless, I love what I do that’s why I have decided to pursue my education in nursing. I want to eventually become a nurse practitioner that’s my main goal. Besides my medical career,…
Although my motives for becoming a nurse have not always been set in place until now, I remember the thought of thinking that this is the path I want to go in. I enjoy working and helping others by trying to find possible solutions to fit their needs. Towards the end of my high school career, I wasn’t really sure what career path would best suit my characteristics. As time progressed and after considering nearly every career choice there was, I decided nursing was the profession for me as it would challenge me and border all of my strong points. I decided to embark on the journey of nursing as still wasn’t certain of my decision. Constantly asking myself, “was this really for me?” and putting my kids into thought every step of the way, helped…
