The American Revolution was a time of great fear and immense turmoil. Today, however, the war is seen by many Americans as honorable revolutionists (Whigs) battling an oppressive British regime while rooting out evil Tories (Loyalists) and befriending Indians. Though not entirely accurate, the accounts often brought forward by researchers tended to exaggerate the events that had transpired. One such exaggeration would be Great Britain’s implementation of the Southern Strategy. Jim Piecuch, author of “Three Peoples, One King”, sought to rectify these inconsistences through careful research and extensive historical sources. Piecuch believed that while the strategy relied heavily on supporters of the crown, the roles of Loyalist and Indians were…

A monarchial king gets its crown passed down by the king before him. “Powhatan was a leader who got his power from war, marriage and trade of goods” (Townsend). Powhatan was a leader who protected his tribes by going into war when there was a threat from newcomers or neighbors. A Monarchial king would do the same to protect his people from enemies. Powhatan welcomed newcomers only if the newcomers would greet him with goods and would trade while living in the same land. A monarchial kings were more aggressive towards newcomers they would go into war to set boundaries of their land that was not shareable to…
Robert Russa Moton is a forgotten hero. He devoted his entire adult life to improving educational opportunities for African Americans and he also launched movements for racial equality and interracial cooperation. However, no students today knew his name or his achievements. He was an excellent and distinguished American educator and an advisor to several presidents and he consistently opposed discrimination against minorities in the U.S., but he has been forgotten by the society. He had a happy childhood with his relatives’ love and support. His grandparents instilled in him a love for Ponca language, history, and culture. When he was a lad, he was sent to an Indian boarding school where he began to learn English. Years later, he gradually forgot his own language. Boarding school life introduced him to the pan-Indian…

Additional proof of Arthur being an archetypal hero are the tests, allies and enemies he encountered within the story. He faced many tests on his journey but one stood out. This test was the one where Arthur was getting the hour hand from Mister Monday. To actually get to Mister Monday he had to first cross a web that would only be out for a few minutes then go through a pit of snakes that would spit poison and finally through a pit of “dark yellow mud that bubbled and popped like burning porridge”(311). This all lead up to Arthur getting the hour hand from Mr. Monday.…
The qualities that make an epic hero are strength, courage a strong mentality, and the aspiration to achieve heroic acts. Many heroes are considered role models as they make brave decisions attempting to do something extraordinary. Heroes often fight against the causes of evil as they try to make the environment a better place. Hercules (son of Zeus) is one of the many known Gods to Greek mythology. He is supernatural and immortal. The hero has extraordinary strength, being the strongest man on earth he is sometimes he is unaware of the power he posses, Hercules is invulnerable. Although worshiped as a God, he was properly a hero.…
Beowulf and the divergent a great king of the ancient Danes and the founder of their royal line. Anglo - Saxons created Beowulf to tell a story about heroes and Violence that is a part of life, but it is not considered a free-for-all. ¨My lord, the great king of the Danes, commands me To tell you that he knows of your noble birth And that having come to him from over the open Sea you have come bravely and are welcome. (Beowulf, 127-130) had some awesome heroic kings. The first of these hero-kings is Shield Sheafson, who is basically awesome because he could rampage and pillage with the best of them—both on the battlefield and in the mead hall, if you get our drift. He is an orphan, but he eventually becomes king and then subjugates other nearby…
What is a tragedy? Is it a plot that some old guy made? Or is it more than that? A tragedy is a set of events that goes from order to chaos to order. In every tragedy, there is a tragic hero with a tragic flaw. I believe that the Tragedy Paper is a tragedy.…
King Tutankhamun lived over 3,300 years ago during a period known as the New Kingdom. This period of time was called the New Kingdom because it was when the pharaohs united upper and lower Egypt into one kingdom with the capital being Memphis near current day Cairo. The reason I chose to write a research paper on King Tut is because he is one of the most well known pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun is most well known only by the discovery of his intact tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.…

Cuchulainn, a heroic warrior, is referred to as both the Hercules and Achilles of Ireland. Fedelm, the prophetess, describes him as “full of fame.” Like Hercules, Cuchulainn had superhuman strength. He had a “warrior’s fist, the arm of a prodigy.” He was also able to outdo all Ulster warriors with his “brilliance and nimbleness in feats.” His great strength and valor reflect the characteristics of Hercules. Because of his bravery and invincibility, Cuchulainn also resembles the great Greek hero Achilles. Like Achilles, Cuchulainn is known as an undefeatable warrior, with the potential to easily slaughter his opponents in war. Because of these heroic attributes, Cuchulainn can be easily compared to the valiant ancient warriors, Achilles and…

Have you ever met a Mythological hero? Mythological heroes have been around since the Greeks. But during the medieval times, one stood out more than any other hero. Historically King Arthur was the protector of Britain throughout the 5th to the 6th century CE. King Arthur was a great military leader who brought many victories to Britain by defending against the Saxon invasions, the Battle of the River Glein, and the many battles in Linnuis. Arthur defended Britain during this time period, but his mythological legacy helped shape a part of modern day literature, and storytelling with myths, and legends written about his life.…
