The Fisher King scene is also the threshold point of the hero's journey because it was the start of Jack beginning to understand who Parry really is. Jack was able to understand a little bit of who Parry was, Henry Sagan, and understands what his background was. Jack had done things the had never done in order to further understand how Parry saw the world and had felt bad for him. This scene was one of those deep talk conversations where Jack and Parry talked about things relating to their life and understanding who they are as people and as friends. Although they are completely different
people, Jack knows that he needs Parry in order to become a better person.
The Fisher King scene can both be seen as the call and the threshold points of the hero's journey because the information given in the story made Jack realize what kind of person he was and what he can do in order to change. During the Fisher King scene, the camera alternates between Jack and Parry’s faces when he says something significant about one of them. Also, while watching the scene, Parry’s tone changes while he tells the story. His change in tone signifies that he is a different person while talking to Jack, or even changes when he talks, or remembers something significant to his life. Parry was once an english professor, so I feel that it would make sense for him to change when telling the tale.
In the Fisher King, Holy Grail was sought out in the time of want. It was never found though. Later in the story, the Holy Grail only showed up in a time of need. This is evident in the film, when Parry first words of the Holy Grail, he never got it, because ne never needed it.
