Upon meeting the damsel and hearing the story of the Fisher King, the young man learns that he has made a brutal mistake in not asking about the bleeding lance or the grail and as a result the Fisher King was not able to regain his health and govern his land. Then, when the damsel asks him for his name, the young man intuitively answers that he is Perceval the Welshman. The damsel, who claims to be Perceval’s cousin, continues on to inform him of his mother’s death and tells him that her death was caused by grief of him leaving home. Hearing this, Perceval changes his route to chase the knight who has slain his cousin’s lover. Before Perceval takes off, his cousin warns him about the sword that he had received from the Fisher King. She tells …show more content…

Seeing Sagremor’s defeat, Kay tries to being back Perceval by force, but he also ends up being defeated and dislocates his collar-bone and breaks his arm, as the fool’s prophecy foretold. Finally, Gawain approaches Perceval and tries to persuade him, and during the persuasion, Gawain realizes that Perceval is indeed the one that King Arthur is looking for. When Perceval and Gawain arrive, King Arthur greets Perceval and asks him to stay. The next day, a hideous damsel visits King Arthur, and blesses everyone but Perceval. Instead, she curses Perceval for his misbehavior at the Fisher King’s house. Then, after giving the knights incentive to go search for adventures, especially Perceval, the damsel departs. Five years pass since the hideous damsel’s visit, and Perceval, who had been pursuing for adventures ever since, comes across three knights and ten

What a perfect time to return home in Camelot. Even though i do not have a permanent residence in which i can call my home, King Arthur's castle is the one place i can rely to be welcomed and treated as family. I refuse to complain, however after spending much of the year surveying the kingdom, i have grown quite tired. Only after arriving at the gigantic stone walls protecting the closest family i have, do i realize how much i missed being here. Upon entering, i am greeted with yells and shouts, applause and laughter as me and my fellow knights have survived long enough for another reunion. Voices overlap with,"Take a seat!", "Have a drink!", "Tell me the stories of your journies, it's been too long!", and soon enough my mind is clouded with pure happiness and the undying emotion of gratefullness. What better time to be home than for the holidays. Last year i was unable to enjoy this moment because lady Guinevere's mother was ill. King Arthur wanted me to accompany her on the journey to visit her. He would have gone of course but i assured him it was far too dangerous for him to leave, and what better hands to leave her in than my own? A week we traveled in horribly cold weather. Up rocky mountains and across large barren fields of ice we traveled. I remember during that bleak time, some scruffy purple tinted balls sparsely sprouted throughout the snow. They seemed to be the only thing to bring a smile to the ladies face. "Even beautiful things can sprout from the most harsh and brutal environment", i nodded understanding this was the sign of hope she needed. So on my way here, i decided to take a different route, only slightly out of the way. A few more hours was every bit worth the look on lady Guineveres face when i handed her several plucked snow flowers. I know eventually i will have to leave, and i await the challenges coming my way with great anticipation, for serving my king is the greatest honor. However, i do not deny that i wish nights like these never…

The knight is sitting on a majestic white horse in armor that gives him a ghostly glow. Pellinore lifts the visor of his helmet to reveal his foggy, horn-rimmed spectacles. As he attempts to clear off the fog, the bumbling knight drops his lance, then his glasses. He dismounts his large white horse, which now seems a bit too majestic for the stumbling knight. As he does, his visor falls back down again. Pellinore proceeds to scramble clumsily back onto his horse and then holds his had out for his lance.…

King Cambuskan of Tartary was brave, lenient, and wise; everything you can ever want in a king. The young great king had two sons named Algarsyff and Cambalo and a daughter named Canace. In the midst of a celebration a mysterious Knight burst into the image. He rode in on a bronze horse and carried a huge mirror. He wore a golden ring and had a naked sword saddle to his side. After introducing himself as Gawain, he exposed his true reason for being there. He was sent by the king of Araby in honor of the king’s celebration. There were four magical gifts a bronze horse, a mirror, a sword, and a ring. The bronze horse had the power of teleportation. The mirror can predict the thoughts of the king’s enemies and friends. The third gift was the sword which had the ability to cut through the strongest armor and heal wounds with a single touch, and finally the golden ring which gave the wearer the ability to understand birds. The mirror and the ring were gifted to the king’s daughter. The next working Canace went for a walk wearing her newly gifted ring. The ring gave meaning to the beautiful music sung by the birds, so when she heared the heartrending sounds from the falcon she is able to empathize. Canace finds out that the falcon’s lover the hawk left her for a kite. During a battle the magical horse and sword bestowed upon Cambuskan’s sons gave them the ability to overcome many obstacles. The tale is never finished. Even though…

This extract presents the conflict that Bedivere faces when having to let his faith in Arthur triumph over his common sense. There is another reference to the light of the sword with Bedivere having to close his “eyelids” or the “gems should blind” his “purpose”. This creates a strong contrast between the darkness of the bleak winter setting and of the sombre themes of the inevitability of Arthur’s death and decline with the light and radiance of the sword, which represents Arthur’s kingship and previous influential rule. There is also subtle wordplay within Bedivere’s answer to King Arthur with the lines “for I never saw/Nor shall see, here or elsewhere”. The word “see” could be construed as a double entendre, meaning both to see with ones eyes, but also the sea in which the sword became submerged.…
