I. Introductory Paragraph
A. King Tut was the 12th king of the 18th Egyptian dynasty, in power from 1332 to 1323 B.C.E. After his death at age 19, he disappeared from history, until the discovery of his tomb in 1922. Since then, studies of his tomb and remains have revealed much information about his life and times.
B. British archaeologist Howard Carter had begun excavating in Egypt in 1891, and after World War I he began an intensive search for Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
C. THESIS: The discovery of King Tut's tomb was a turning point in the history of Egyptology. Not only did it led to further discoveries in the Valley of the kings, but his tomb was almost …show more content…

V Howard Carter
A. Early life of Howard Carter 1. Howard Carter was born on May 9, 1874, in Kensington, London. 2. His father Samuel Carter was a successful artist. 3. Howard was a sick child, and was sent to live with his aunts in Norfolk. 4. He had private home schooling 5. He had an artistic streak from an early age.
B. Howard headed to Egypt in 1891, at the age of 17, where he was to work on the Egypt Exploration Fund's excavation of the Middle Kingdom tombs at Beni Hassan. 1. For the next several years, Carter worked under different archaeologists at sites including Amarna, Deir el Babri, Thebes, Edfu and Abu Simbel. In 2. 1907, Carter was hired by wealthy English aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who was fascinated by Egyptology.
