Question: Choose a famous scientist. This could be an historical figure or a more recent Nobel Prize winner. Using whatever sources of information you have (from books or the Internet), read about that scientist and then write a 150 to 200 word summary outlining his/her major achievements.
China’s keystone space scientist Qian Xuesen (Hsue-Shen Tsien), widely acclaimed as the country’s "father of space technology" and "king of rocketry", died of illness in Beijing at the age of 98.
In 1953 Qian left China on a Boxer Rebellion Indemnity Scholarship to study mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Master of Science degree from MIT a year later. In 1949, upon the recommendation of von Kármán, Qian became the first director of the Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Jet Propulsion Center at Caltech. It can be his greatest professional fulfillment, in a manner of speaking. Although In October 1949 when he heard People’s Republic of China has established, he decided apply for naturalization and come back to China to build motherland. The road to return motherland spent 5 years. After spending 5 years under virtual house arrest, Qian was released in 1955, in exchange for the repatriation of American pilots captured during the Korean War.

    Feng Ru had to endure many setbacks and dangers such as racism, natural disasters, and money shortage during his goal to become the First Chinese Aviator and to fly and design a plane. He knew nevertheless that the setbacks were going to be tough and he was going to have to risk life in doing so. This shows that he was making progress and getting recognized by people around the world. In order to continue his dream, Feng Ru responds to the endeavors of bringing aviation by persevering and not giving up as the challenges appeared. Through his reactions, Feng Ru impacts his society and country by inspiring other Chinese Aviators to keep finding out the secrets of aviation.
