Klokken
Andersen i 1845, i romantikken.

In Aldous Huxley's Brave New World the actions of the conditioned characters in the novel serve to prove that the Brave New World itself would never attain it's goal of happiness. Within the first introduced “Utopian” society, there were various forms of conditioning (and lack there of). This caused a disturbance within the society itself, albeit it was a minor disturbance initially, later it grew into a bigger problem that caused a riff in the mechanical order of the civilization. Outside of the society stood another much different society where a young “savage” conditioned to follow Shakespearian ideals left an even bigger hole in the Brave New World. The various degrees of conditioning, the differences between the seemingly Utopian society and the savage society, and the issues raised from the characters interactions, presents the idea that without perfection, there cannot be happiness, without happiness, there cannot be stability, and without stability, there cannot be a Utopia. Conditioning individuals is only a proper form of control if the conditioned party are the same (in other words, no longer individuals) and no other ideas that contradict the conditioning are brought forth. If those conditions are not met, the “Utopia” will cease to exist as a Utopia, and will crumble as a society. Happiness cannot be obtained in a crumbling society.…

From our DCF calculations, the value of Torrington as a stand-alone entity is $1.181 billion. However, the maximum purchase price for Torrington should only be $641 million. The optimum debt amount for this transaction would be $301 million. This amount of debt would result in a total debt to capital ratio for Torrington of 47%, within the range for a BBB “investment grade” debt rating. The combined entities, Torrington-Timken, would produce an interest coverage ratio of 3.2, and a debt ratio of 45%, again within the range for a BBB “debt rating. The purchase would likely be a cash transaction.…

The NAZIs gave particularly attention to education and control of the German educational system. They were well awarethat it would be difficult to convert many adults and only aminority of Germand had ever voted for the NAZIs in democratic elections. The childrn were a different matter. They were thus determined to mold the new generation to accept NAZI pinciples. As the leader of the NAZI Teacher's League, Hans Schemm, put it: "Those who have the youth on their side control the future." As a result, after the NAZIs seized power in 1933, they quickly began applying totalitarian principles to all aspects of the German education system. Private schools were taken over or closed. Great emphasis was attached on racial "science", often termed "racial hygine", in NAZI education and this was quickly introduced into the curiculum. NAZI idelogy and physical-military training became other important aspects of the school program. Many teachers embraced the new Germany, but others were fired or left teaching. It is difficult to assess the relative importance of the two groups. It is known that many teachers were fired or replaced with political hacks during 1933-35, but HBC has no details on the numbers. Some of the best educators fled abroad. The quality of German education, once the leading system in Europe, declined. Again, however, it is difficult to assess this in quantative terms. NAZI World ViewThe NAZI worldview served as central focus of education during the Third Reich. It serves to justify actions of the regime which would have been rejected by most Germans before the NAZIs seized power. The central concept was concept was racial superiority which was mixed with xenephobic nationalism. The NAZI concept of a ‘national community’ included a fusion of race and country. The other key principle was leadership by a strong leader and the rejectioin of democracy and civil liberties. The NAZI world view was expressed in the slogan: "Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Führer". Hitler…

The Kellogg Company is the world's leading producer of cereals. Its products are manufactured in 18 countries and sold in more than 180 countries. For more than 100 years, Kellogg's has been a leader in health and nutrition through providing consumers with a wide variety of food products. These are designed to be part of a balanced diet and meet the different tastes of consumers. Kellogg's focuses on sustainable growth. This involves constantly looking for ways to meet consumer needs by growing the cereal business and expanding its product portfolio. Market research is a specific area of marketing that informs businesses like Kellogg's about the things consumers need, how best to design products to answer those needs and how to advertise those products to consumers. Market research goes beyond finding out what consumers are thinking today. It can identify what consumers might want in the future. In this way market research helps a business to make more informed choices. This reduces the risks for any new product development (NPD). It also increases the likelihood that products will be well received by consumers when they are launched. Kellogg's launched Crunchy Nut Cornflakes in the UK in 1980. Since then, it has become one of the most important brands for Kellogg's with a sales value of £68 million (according to IRI sales data). In 2003 the Crunchy Nut brand created a brand extension. This involved using the Crunchy Nut name to launch a new product called Crunchy Nut Clusters. This variant has two varieties, Milk Chocolate Curls and Honey and Nut. Both of them have enabled the brand to reach a wider group of consumers. This brand extension is now worth £21 million in annual value sales (according to IRI sales data). This case study focuses on the importance of market research during the development and launch of Crunchy Nut Bites, a more recent extension to the Crunchy Nut brand. The objective of this innovation was to provide a new flavour and texture for…
