Informative Essay Cristiano Ronaldo started his football career with a modest beginning. He was born in Madeira, a small island off the coast of Portugal. Ronaldo was born into a working-class family; his home was a small tin roofed shack that overlooked the ocean. There was no doubt that he had a genuine love for the game, sneaking out through his bedroom window with a soccer ball in the middle of the night. Ronaldo’s early life was characterized by hardship. His father was an alcoholic who eventually died of kidney problems in 2005, which left his mother financially responsible for the children. Despite his father’s drinking problem, Ronaldo’s father introduced the game of football to him through his job as an equipment manager at Andorinha, an amateur boy’s club back in the day. By 1995 at the age of ten, Ronaldo’s skill began to blossom. Cristiano was all about the game; he ate, slept and drank football. He signed with Nacional da Madeira, where he went on a title-winning campaign. Then young Ronaldo was given a three-day trail with Sporting Clube de Portugal, he dazzled them with his ability and they signed him instantly for an unrecorded amount. He joined the club’s other youth players and trained in a different city away from his family. Ronaldo was the first player to be on Sporting’s under-16, under-17, under-18, and first team all within one season. In his 2002 league debut, he astonished supporters with two goals in a victory against Moreirense. In the same year he was highlighted in the 2002 European Under-17 Championships. There was no questioning Ronaldo’s bright future with the game, however at the age of fifteen he had come across an
