Jack maintains his power by killing the ones who disobeys him. Everything on the island changed after the death of Piggy. The twins, Sam and Eric are now on Jack’s side, since they were force too. Ralph is alone on the island, the members are going against him. Jack has convinced all the boys to kill Ralph, since it was the right thing to do. Ralph is in danger, he is surrounded by the members of Jack’s. Jack was ready to kill Ralph, “With full intention, he hurled his spear at Ralph. The point tore the skin and flesh over Ralph's ribs” (181). The last thing that was in Jack way was Ralph. Jack never liked Ralph from the beginning since he stole the title of being chief. As Ralph ran away from the situation, where he was almost killed. Ralph hid in the bushes. Nothing can stop Jack from getting all the power he wants. His desire to have power changed him. When Jack wants something, he finds his own ways to get it. For intense, Jack wanted Piggy's glasses. Instead of stealing them, he could have asked the other tribe for them. But he didn't, he hurted Ralph, Piggy, Sam, and Eric. Then he ran away afterwards. Jack’s way of ruling is like a dictator. He wants a total control of everyone and everything. While Ralph is more like a democracy, everyone has the same right to say something. Jack sees himself above everyone else, he uses violence to help him gain more power. Jack turns evil towards the end of the book when he starts to kill his own members. Overall, having power changed Jack’s point of view on the island. He feels that his power is not secured. In order for it to be secured, he has to get rid of
