“The Last of the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper is a novel about the British-French war and the Indians who are allying the French. This novel is about people get to fort William safely. Heyward, a British general, is supposed to get Cora and Alice, the daughters of the Colonel Munro, safely to Fort William-Henry, but on his way there were complications. Hawkeye, Uncas, and the Mohicans came into the novel trying to help Heyward get to Fort William safely. Three scenes where there was a clash between races or cultures were the Hurons and Mohicans fighting, The British and French fighting, and the Indians slaughtering the British. The Indians were fearless and gutless, thus had no problem killing and slaughtering, which benefited the French into causing the British to be fearful and paranoid. The Hurons and Mohicans didn’t get along and got into battles numerous times throughout this novel.

Magua, a Huron, promised Heyward that he would give him a shortcut to Fort William, but he really was tricking them. Hawkeye found it weird that an Indian gets lost in his own home. As Hawkeye found out that Magua was a Huron automatically thought that he was a traitor and a dishonest person because he was a Huron. That comment was racist and a stereotype because he put an individual and compared it to a community, but that was the problem. These two tribes were mortal enemies; therefore, him making that comment was because of hatred. The Hurons and Mohicans got into fight when Hawkeye, Uncas, and the Mohicans go and try to save Heyward, Gamut, and the girls. The Mohicans attacked them off guard and won the battle and Chigachgook fights with Magua hand to hand. The Mohicans save the prisoners. These are two different tribes with two different cultures and believe in two
