1.Explain what it means to be a reflective practitioner. Whose teaching story in this chapter did you most relate to? Why?…
Today’s appraisal was planned in advance so it gave me time to reflect on any areas I thought I needed help in. Undertaking reflection alone is sometimes difficult, that’s why I find it important to make use of my supervisor in order to get feedback on what I have done. Support networks whether formal or informal, are one of the most effective means of identifying areas of my practice which need further development.…
The only way I could reflect off of the story is how a doctor stole a bantam sample of cells from Henrietta Lacks, without her consent and telling her so. Henrietta Lacks departed from cervical cancer. This is relatable by reason of I have experienced my belongings used or taken from without being told. An example I could utilize to relate to this situation would be when I was at work and my little sister used my makeup.…
Although Anna Hyatt possesses very strong written communication skills, her assessment reveals that she isn’t as motivated, and finds it difficult to control her emotions due to having a very high emotional level. Anna’s assessment showed that she possesses the personality of the facilitator, and seeks to please everyone. Recognition and opportunity for…
As a result of my research I am now able to recognise and define the process Initial Assessment and the connection it bears with negotiating with learners, as well as agreeing goals and actions. During the course of my research I have gained an awareness and depth of knowledge into the significance of Inclusive learning; I can now confidently adapt session plans, and delivery methods to suit individual learners and their unique learning styles to help ensure success in learning. Research suggests the integration of functional skills into our teaching further enriches learners, and so as a result of this study I am now aware of how and when to embed functional skills into my teachings in order to accommodate the necessity of acquiring and maintaining a level of standard when demonstrating these skills . Finally conducting this research has enabled me to acquire a greater understanding into the process of communication, and various methods of communication that can be utilised during the delivery of a lesson to ensure information given is clear and understood.…
The weaknesses I have, as revealed via this exercise, can be classified as goals to achieve success, as indicators to analyze whether or not growth has been achieved, is needed, or a state of stagnancy exists as a professional practitioner. Although I consider myself to be a critical thinker, having watched the video presentation Laureate Education (2011) Critical Reflective Practice [Video, Online], (accessed: 23/04/14), there’s room for improvement with respect to not only just being a reflective thinker, but also to introduce a greater degree of reflexive thought processes. Jon Spence in his rhetoric suggests that…
During my Interview with Melissa Tudor, MA, LPC , I realized that being a counselor was going to be very challenging and that throughout those challenges it was going to take plenty of patience. Melissa Tudor has been a therapist for many years specializing in working with adolescents and adults of all ages. Her areas of interest include grief and loss, anxiety, depression, adolescent issues, women concerns, and spiritual issues. When interviewing Mrs. Tudor she was asked questions that was related to her job as a licensed therapist, when responding she was very informative and even went in great detail to show her point.…

The purpose of the meeting was to talk more about Susan’s comment and to see if we could investigate why she felt this way. She was feeling disengaged and her work was no longer meaningful. I wanted to use this opportunity to apply the coaching model and see if we could find the root cause and address it.…
For this assignment, I had to plan, be involved in and review two interactions within health and social care, one had to be one-to-one role play, and the other had to be a group role play. I am going to write a detailed description off the skills I used in the interactions, and explain my strengths and weaknesses of my interpersonal skills that I used in each interaction.…
For my finial reflection I have decided to reflect on the reflective practice itself and my abilities to practice reflection, as it appears I am having some issues with the process. After receiving an A- on my last reflection, I spoke with my Faculty Advisor (FA) with the intention of discovering why I was not achieving marks in the A+ range on my reflections, and what I need to work on to improve on the quality of my reflections. Her feedback was that I was too broad in my approach; I spend too much time discussing the event and did not go into enough depth in my reflective analysis. I hope and anticipate that this reflection will be better; as I hope to demonstrate a deeper analysis of the issue and techniques I can use to improve my skills.…
Therapeutic communication is a process in which we can take; to improve an individual’s understanding in the message we are sending through non-verbal and verbal communication. It comprises the use of detailed approaches that encourage an individual to demonstrate ideas and feelings. Therapeutic communication in the nursing practice is key to providing adequate care, understanding and empathy. Within this reflective paper I will reflect on my capabilities to utilise communication skills, assisting me in recognising and discovering the importance of these skills throughout my nursing practice. I will reflect on my use of three communication skills I used in a mock interview during my tutorial class. The skills consist of listening, eye contact and attending. The use of reflection will highlight my strengths and areas that I still need to develop as a novice practitioner.…
My practice is reflective and this helps me to recognise my strengths and weaknesses. I make my team aware of this practice, so they can better themselves and support me also. The Manager also enables me to improve knowledge and practice verbally and through appraisals. Knowledge and practice can be improved by formal or informal training, education, e- learning or one- to – one support.…
