This lecture course surveys the history of art from the prehistoric era to the fifteenth century. Key examples of art, architecture, design and material culture from around the world will be examined in their social and aesthetic context.
Students will gain an overview of the major periods, geographical centres and stylistic developments of visual art and design in ancient, medieval and early Renaissance eras.
