When/Where: Lecture MWF 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. in CHM 1407 Discussion T/H at 12:30 pm, 2 pm, and 3:30 pm in the CHM 1228

Course Materials: Organic Chemistry by Marc Loudon, 5th edition with study guide Response Card RF Clicker by Responsive Innovations (optional) Organic Chemistry I as a Second Language by David Klein

Dr. Dixon’s office hours: Schedule to be uploaded to our website by 9/7 (midnight)!

Coverage: This term we are expected to complete Chapter 1 through Chapter 14! We will not follow the book in order, so pay close attention to the course calendar (at the end of the syllabus).

Major Assessments: Three exams will be given during class time on 10/6, 11/3 and 12/8. A pre-assessment quiz will be given during class on 9/15. Assessments are cumulative with emphasis placed on the new material. The final exam will be held on December 16th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, room to be announced.

Missed Exams: YOU MUST CONTACT ME WITHIN 24 HRS OF THE EXAM. If a legitimate (University recognized) excuse is submitted, you will be allowed to make up the exam the very next day you are well; otherwise, a score of zero will be used. There are no exceptions to this policy.

As University policy dictates, a course grade of ‘F’ will be received if the final exam is not taken, no matter how many points have been accumulated from the mid-term exams.

Clickers
40 points

Pre-Assessment 75 points

Homeworks (6 @ 20 pts each) 120 points

Final Exam 300 points

Hour Exams (3 at 150 pts each) 450 points

Total 985 points
