MODERN DAY SPARTANS
The Book the Warriors Ethos is inspirational and was written for the men and woman in uniform. The story has a lot to talk about ancient stories of Sparta, and it shows how the Spartans had such a warrior mentality to defeat and concur the enemy. War is the will we impose on our enemies and is considered to be a violent clash of interest between and among organized groups. The big idea of the warrior ethos is how how the Spartans and modern day Spartans carry themselves with such a vulgar and disciplined mental and physical manner during battles.
MENTALITY
The Warriors Ethos embodies certain virtues- courage, honor, loyalty, integrity, selflessness and others that most warrior societies believe must be inculcated from birth. The story begins in ancient Sparta and from the beginning shows a big impact on how the mother soft these warriors had a high expectations on the warriors. From being kids the mothers of these were expected to be hard and untouchable. If a child was judged unfit, he was taken to a wild gorge on Mount Taygetos, the mountain overlooking the city, and left for the wolves. So far we have no reports of a mother weeping or protesting due to that fact.
TOUGH MOTHERS
In one of the three stories from ancient Sparta a messenger returned to Sparta from a battle and the woman would cluster around to hear the passed down information. To one of the mothers that were in the cluster the messenger said, “Mother, I bring sad news, your son was killed facing the enemy.” The Mother said, “He is my son.” The messenger replied “But you other son is still alive, He fled from the enemy.” The mother said, “He is not my son.” This shows how much the Warrior Ethos has a major impact on not only the Spartans that were in the battle fighting but the surrounding people that were around.
