Lebroon James Transformational Leader
LeBron James, is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). James, hands down, is currently the best player in the NBA. He is a three-time NBA champion, three-time NBA finals MVP, four-time NBA most valuable player, 13-time NBA all-star, two-time NBA all-star game most valuable player, 11-time All-NBA first team, two-time All-NBA second team, and a five-time NBA all-defensive first team (land of basketball.com). Also, he recently just passed Michael Jordan to become the NBA’s all-time playoff scoring leader, and the first player to average a triple-double in NBA Finals history. Even with all the awards and publicity, James record remains clean. We never heard of him getting in any kind of trouble, common for athletes, such as drugs, drunk driving, and infidelity. James showed leadership off the court, and displayed how to incessantly represent yourself in positive manner. He understood the attention he attracted and the people who were following him. He did not want to lead them astray or down the wrong path. James knew he had a major influence on the society, and tried to have a positive influence, daily. One of the main examples of the influence he has on the society, is when James decided to leave Cleveland to go to play for the Miami Heat. His choice was the talk of the town. His decision made national news. Most of the city of Cleveland publicly burnt James’ jersey and threatened him. Basically, the entire state of Ohio turned their backs on him. “During ESPN’s “The Decision” broadcast Thursday night, the network showed video of Cleveland fans burning LeBron James’ Cavaliers jersey in response to his decision to sign with the Miami Heat next season” (clevelandsubnation). They quickly forgot all the time, effort, and sacrifices James made for them. All odds were against James, the unimageable pain from his city where he was born and raised, hates him. Throughout all of it, James maintain class and humility. He did not speak negatively about his city when they publicly ridiculed him. Yet he kept his poised and continued to be the best leader as possible because he knew he had to maintain a great image during this tough time. LeBron James is a great leader because he is a good person on and off the court. He is a great father that knows how to separate his work from his family.
