What is green, currently illegal in the state of Florida, and could help not only with the economy, but also with many illnesses Florida residents suffer with today? Medical marijuana is the answer; in order for Florida to have an economically successful future filled with healthier Florida residents, medical marijuana needs to be legalized. Medical marijuana will help more than it will hurt, and legalizing this substance in the state of Florida will give us the changes we’re interested in seeing.

I can easily eliminate each one of these factors without wasting any time. For starters, medical marijuana is just an alternative to harmful medicines and antibiotics; it wouldn’t cause those in the medical field to lose their jobs, they’d just have one more thing to study about. People are still going to need medical attention in the accident area; accidents on the job, accidents while driving recklessly, and so on. There still will be drivers speeding on the roads, selling other harmful drugs, and robbing houses; legalizing marijuana most likely won’t change the criminal rate, so law enforcement won’t have to worry either. Marijuana is still a drug itself with minimal side effects which means there should be some sort of restriction. Medical marijuana should be legalized to help those in pain and with illnesses, not to risk our freedom of having this substance on the market. With the legalization of medical marijuana, we should have following laws in place that stop this drug from being abused, like not being able to drive under the influence, not being able to smoke in public places, and only have the ability to receive medical marijuana by prescription. Finally, medical marijuana can be ingested, used as a lotion, swallowed in capsule form, or smoked, so those with prescriptions for medical marijuana have other ways aside from smoking it that will save the life of their lungs. Since this is such an argumentative topic, we can make medical marijuana legal for a certain amount of time, say three years, and record the changes, whether positive or negative; economic changes and health rate in the state of Florida should be recorded and used to continue the legalization of medical marijuana.
