There were several similarities between the book and the movie. One way they were alike was Joetta thinks that the angel does not look like her because the angel is white and she is African American. The protagonist of this book is named Susan McConnell. Susan is a sixteen year old junior at Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a loner and mostly stays at home to study. She is a hardworking student and is very unpopular. Personally, I like Susan. Throughout the book she was the only one who wanted to do the right thing when the other characters in the book accidently killed Mr. Griffin. The one thing that I didn’t like about Susan was how…

Near the end of the book leo wanted to be like everyone. I can relate to this because at one point I just wanted to be like everyone else, but Leo and I both learned that it is not necessary to change who you are. We also both learned that being selfish doesn't always get you what you want. As evidence in the text Leo made Stargirl change herself for his benefit and that ended in Stargirls embarrassment. Also i think that Leo and i learn our lessons to late. As proof in the text Leo learn that his actions can hurt others and he lost Stargirl before he even knew what happened. I can relate to that because I often say the wrong things to the wrong people and I often learn to late that my actions can hurt other…

Task 2 Reading Response In this task we had to choose two of the stories from the anthology and comparing them to see their differences and similarities, as well as to see what makes the interesting, effective and unique. Some of the things we could have considered were genre, storyline, character/narrative voice, settings and the use of language and structure. I decided to choose: My Polish Teacher’s Tie and When the Wasps Drowned. The reasons for this is because the two stories have some key differences but a few similarities as well.…

The most attention-grabbing section of the novel is when Joey met Miss Tidcombe while walking home from school. She invited Joey to her place for afternoon tea and told Joey that her cats have been strangely disappearing. Miss Tidcombe treats Joey as an equal and, so far, she is the only person who believes Joey. This is the best section of the novel because it tells the reader that someone believes Joey and this had a huge effect on Joey’s confidence and self- worth. The author captivates the reader in this section of the book by using humour and emotions of sadness.…
