He was considered to be mathematician, physicist, astronomer, logician and engineer. He was born on April 15, 1707, in Basel, Switzerland. Growing up he was centered around a very religious environment, because his father was a pastor of the Reformed Church and his mother’s father was a pastor. He was the oldest out of four children in a city named Riehen, which was close to Switzerland and bordered both France and Germany. Particularly the education and schooling for Euler wasn’t very good so his father, who had some background of mathematics from degree in theology, gave him math lessons. This got Leonhard Euler interested in mathematics and they discovered that he had an exceptionally good memory with the …show more content…
But his plan was changed when he realized that he had no interest in theology, but did in mathematics. He also got his Master of Philosophy at University of Basel. Euler was influenced by his father’s friend, Johann Bernoulli, who was a Swiss mathematician in the Bernoulli known for educating Euler. He persuaded Euler’s father to allow him to pursue his mathematics career, which was a very important action in history. Because Euler following his passion for math he was able to go on and make contributions in nearly all math’s, including number theory, trigonometry, infinitesimal calculus, algebra, and geometry. Although he grew up in Rehen he moved to St. Petersburg Russia and spent most of his adult life Berlin,
