Activity 1 (
One possible activity to start the session could be to identify the images drawn on the board. This could be a drawing of a germ, a bar of soap or a pet. They could then try to identify what the topic of the lesson will be.
Secondly I could ask If they have returned inside after playing on play ground, have children look at their hands. Ask them questions about their hands (How do they smell, Can you see dirt, Is there dirt under nails, etc.) Then wash hands and ask them the same questions. Note the differences.
Activity 2
The second activity could be an opportunity to find out how much they already know by asking the students to reply to questions i ask them by either putting their thumbs up or down,
Such questions as: would you wash your hands before you had breakfast?
Would you wash your hands after playing outside?
You wouldn't wash your hands after playing with a pet?
Would you use your hands to wipe your nose?
Extension: give a brief explanation as to why you would/would not do that?
