Set Induction

Song: My Loved Ones (Tune of “I Love You” by Barney. )
Recap of previous lesson
1. Teacher plays a song.
2. Pupils listen to it and sing along with action.
3. Teacher recaps previous lesson.

To set the mood and mentally prepare pupils for the lesson.

To activate pupils’ previous knowledge of the words learnt in previous lesson
Teaching aids:
1. Video clip of the song
2. Lyrics of the song

Presentation

+10 minutes

Show 6 linear words and phrases (flashcards)
i. father and mother ii. sister iii. brother iv. helping me with my homework
v. teaching me how to use my computer vi. taking me to the playground

Paragraph:
Title: Message to my family.
Hi father and mother, I have a message for you. Thanks for helping me with my homework. I love both of you very much.
Hi brother, I have a message for you. Thanks for teaching me how to use my computer. I love you very much.
Hi sister, I have a message for you. Thanks for taking me to the playground. I love you very much. 1. Teacher shows flash card one by one and asks questions accordingly.
Questions:
i) Who help you to do your homework at home? ii) Who teach you to use computer at home? iii) Who take you to the playground?

2. Teacher shows a picture and a paragraph with blanks to the pupils. (sticks the manila cards on the board)
3. While pupils are reading the paragraph, teacher asks the pupils to choose the correct phrases and words to fill in the blank. (Teacher sticks the flash card on the manila card)
4. Teacher uses “Hand Signal” to ensure pupils’ understanding.
Thumb’s up: I understand.
Thumb’s side: I have a question.
Thumb’s down: I do not understand at all.

To ensure all the pupils understand the lesson taught.

To give pupils a guide to write a message.
