Washington, D.C. 20006 To La Prensa Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee: I am writing a letter on behalf of Mr. Jose J Flores Contreras, an Business Administration student at SAC/ UTSA who is applying for La Prensa Foundation Scholarship . To get straight to the point, Jose is, without a doubt, one of the strongest person I have had the pleasure of meet at Immaculate Heart ofMmary Church. I am Jose's co-advisor for her honors thesis and she has enrolled in several of my classes. Most recently, Jose was the sole undergraduate student in a graduate seminar I taught titled
Qualitative Methods. Her performance was outstanding. I enjoyed watching her successfully grapple her way through some very difficult readings in the area of social theory. Additionally, she was a discussion leader she grounded very difficult theory which helped alleviate some of the initial nervousness of the other students in the class. As I noted from her discussions, she is one of those rare students who can operate at an advanced theoretical level while keeping firmly rooted in an empirical realm.
Over the past year I have watched Janet’s interest in Peace and Conflict Studies blossom into a very powerful thesis topic on issues of gender and politics in Northern Ireland. My area of expertise is in the area of gender and nationalism in Northern Ireland; for this reason I am confident when I say she has chosen a fascinating topic for exploration. As part of her research,
Janet conducted a case study of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC) last summer.
She spent three months in Belfast conducting ethnographic and archival research. The NIWC is a cross-community coalition that was formed in 1996 and fully participated in the peace talks which led to the signing of the Easter Agreement. Recently, the NIWC has found itself at the center of

Now I shall talk about her childhood in particular and show how this might have had an impact on her later life. From what I have read she was a strong-minded, stubborn girl who always asked questions from her own curiosity but never had any answers for them as her aunt always said “Instead of asking these silly questions you should be focusing on what any other normal and civilised girl would wonder, what we are going to have for pudding today.” From this quote the life of a woman in those days is revealed. Obviously women in that time still weren’t treated as equals to the men. While the men worked and discussed intellectual and political debate and all the interesting and educational side of matters, women and girls were led down the path of being an obedient house wife. While the men went out and earned a living, women were meant to stay at home,…

In Act 3 Scene 2 we can see how the relationship between the Macbeth and Lady Macbeth begins to fall apart and break down. After the murder of King Duncan, Lady Macbeth attempts to calm Macbeth down as he seems to be suffering from guilt and is deeply disturbed. “Things without all remedy Should be without regard: what’s done is done.” Hearing Lady Macbeth say these soothing words can seem odd since she is one of the main conspirators, who sides with Macbeth in his plot to murder the king. By saying “What’s done is done” she means that what has already been done cannot be changed, and that Macbeth should forget about it.…

As I said in our earlier conversation I do feel that this situation of harassment and violence has been allowed to continue far to long also I feel anything other than removing Bailey from your school will be a waste of time. We all know she can not be escorted by security for the rest of the year nor do I think she wants that .I cannot watch as Bailey's self esteem ,confidence ,and mental well being is over looked and used as a bargaining tool. . Disciplinary action should have occurred the instant Bailey reported this violence ,for whatever the reason being that this harassment/ abuse was allowed to continue for over 2 months, is now an issue for someone else to sort out.I will do everything in my power to make sure that Bailey is safe and in a learning facility that does not just talk about teaching the students to follow the…
