Lewis And Clark Reflection

When the students of Lewis & Clark were commonly describing the student body as alternative, socially conscious, and creative, I knew I would fit in. I'm interested in attending Lewis & Clark College because the college and student body’s values of social responsibility are the same values that I hold throughout my daily life. Beyond the high quality and personable teaching I can receive in classes, the things I can learn from the students are invaluable. I would receive so much insight from the classrooms filled with students who are dedicated to social responsibility. Additionally, considering Lewis and Clark’s commitment to environmental sustainability, I have a few visions of how I can influence the campus. While in the Animal Collective
club, I can bring my dedication to vegetarianism and persistence during demonstrations. It is something that I am accustomed to: in my school’s Gay-Straight Alliance club I attend meetings that require me to be a well-spoken student who is able to bring new ideas into any environment I am in. Saying that, I also have an idea to create a club where students create artwork that invites conversation about a diverse range of issues in the community and around the world. These murals and pieces of art would incite conversations about civil rights and politics in a new way that is both expressive and creative. I would create this group, or integrate it with one of Lewis and Clark College’s existing social justice groups. On a macro level, I can impact the campus by bringing my natural ability to participate, and contribute to productive events at Lewis and Clark College. During my high school years, staying active in an expansive range of clubs is something that is very natural to me and makes me happy. I hope to bring this same dedication and enthusiasm to all parts of L&C.
