At 11:00 pm on Liffey Street, Lieutenant Kiwi was under sniper fire. When he spotted an enemy turret operator and a informer, he shot and killed both Free States and the sniper. This allowed Republican forces to secure the near-by base.
Lieutenant Kiwi and Gilbert Kiwi knew each other on a personal level. In fact, they were brothers that had been separated when the war had begun. Ben had this to say about his brother “I hadn’t seen Gilbert in about ten or so years. The only reason I recognized him was
cuz he had that big birthmark across his face. I was shocked and didn’t really know what to do, he was the enemy after all.”
Lieutenant Kiwi has also stated that this has brought his mother an extreme amount of pain, having one of her children die. As of yesterday Lieutenant Kiwi has resigned from the army, with hope to make peace with his inner demons
