A Wonderful Life Changing Experience

I was young and had lots to learn about being married and becoming a wife, the thought I had in my mind that marriage was supposed to be easier, as they make it look in fairy tale stories. I then realized it was not so easy. I was married to a man that never took marriage seriously and it affected our relationship drastically. Our marriage lasted for only six months. In those six months he refused to work to support our family. After several months of financial struggle, I woke up one day with the realization that my sons and I did not deserve this type of life. I decided to move on and search for someone who valued a marriage the same way I did. When I think back on when I first met my husband, it still gives me butterflies. Our first encounter was while we were doing laundry at a local laundry mat. I was standing there folding clothes and when I looked at him I felt my heart melt, like a hammer to a nail in a board. . A few days had passed and my friend introduced the two of us. I thought for sure it was love at first sight. He was so sincere and respectful to my home. He would ask me questions about my boys and things that I was interested in and what my hobbies were. Our marriage has been one of the biggest

There I found a note next to a croissant and a large cup of coffee. I read the note which brought a smile to my face, "Good luck, baby. I love you!" It was from Jonas, my fiancé. We have been together for more than 3 years. I remembered the day of the proposal. We were at our favorite restaurant and after the waitress brought us the dessert, Jonas grabbed my hands and started talking softly. Then he knelt down and asked me to marry him. It was such an overwhelming moment. I was over the moon. Jonas was my everything and I couldn’t imagine a life without him. So without any hesitation I accepted his proposal.…

Marriage over the centuries has evolved from culture to culture, land to land, but for the most part, the main roots of marriage have never changed. No matter what race, religion, or sex, marriage must have a stable foundation in order to last. What defines a successful lasting marriage? Is it love? Love is such a powerful word and can be viewed in so many ways and is usually defined by actions and/or emotions. Love can be viewed as the ultimate component of a successful marriage, but because of the inconsistent definitions and cloudy interpretations, it must be further defined and broken down into components. Therefore, love can be seen as a big building block of key components, which all lead to the ultimate goal of a successful relationship and a lasting marriage. Though there are many components and is debatable which work and which do not, what are some that one should have to invest in to achieve such an endeavor? By reading along further, there will be a…

Ever since I can remember I spent almost ever y day at my Grandparents house. They live right down the road from my family and me, and that is how they got the title “Grandma and Grandpa down the road”. They lived in a small house three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small living room with a fire place that can worm the coldest heart. And in their back yard stood a shed filled with old farm equipment and stray cats with their kittens that I would try to catch every day. They are now both 78 years old and sadly not very healthy. My grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer in October, and it changed my grandpa’s life, my family’s life, and my life.…

I volunteered with Outreach Kenya Development Volunteers for three months in Bungoma, Kenya. As a team of six volunteers, we lived with a traditional Kenya family and shared in their daily experiences. Our primary focus this summer was AIDS education. We reached over 7,000 Kenyans about the potential dangers of HIV/AIDS. We used a secondhand vehicle bought by OKDV during the summer of 2000 and an old TV and generator to educate Kenyans. We traveled throughout rural western Kenya and reached people of all age groups and backgrounds. One day, we would teach a group of two hundred high school students whereas on another day, we educated a women's group of ten members. As well, using funds collected from private donors throughout the academic year, we built the first public library in Western Province, Kenya as well as a preschool in Kabula village (the village we lived in this summer). OKDV also worked with several women's groups to set them up with capital so that they could start up their own sewing shops and schools. By providing them with initial capital, they were left to their own creative and business skills to make efficient use of resources.…

As I was deciding of what to write for this paper I had a strong feeling of writing something for my husband. I wanted to share with him how I feel about him, what I think of him, how strong of feelings I have for him, and just how much I appreciate him. As I start to think of my emotions and feelings for my husband I really get tiered up and all happy inside for how special he makes me feel. I don’t think that there are many married people that are my age or that get married at a young age keep a strong enough connection to make it work in their marriage. But for my husband and me, we truly have come a long way. We got married on October 4th, 2003. It was only about a year and a half after I graduated from high school. So I was only 19 when I got married. Can you say that I was young? Definitely! It was a beautiful fall day. The sun was bright and warm. And the air felt so comforting and fresh. When I first saw my husband to be for the first time up at the altar it was such a so real feeling and so humbling. I felt so calm and happy all day long.…

July 30th, 2012 I attempted suicide. My life has seemed to change since this incident. I let stress of my niece’s custody case, where the mother’s side of the family was accused by my niece that they were “touching” her in her vaginal area. All the stress got to me when my niece, who is a little over four years old, came up to me and told me that she had stopped believing in me. I felt worthless and un-needed, the only thought that was in in my head was that if she cannot believe in me and trust me, someone who depends on other people, why am I even around. That morning I woke up and typed out letters to my friends, family, and my girlfriend about what I was about to do; telling them that I love them and that I will always watch over them. I went and placed the letters at the doors of everyone and went to Bear Creek Park. I brought with me, 7500 mg of Vicodin, and 565mg of Warfarin(a powerful blood thinner).…
