Have you ever wondered where you would be if you would have chosen another path? Have you ever wondered how that choice could have changed your life if you would have made it? Often I look back and think about my past and look at the places I have been and the things I have done. Some things I’m not proud of. Some of those things bring back vague memories. Whether they are good or bad they still come back to me. Everything we do is based upon choices. After we make those choices there comes consequences. We can never decide our consequences, they just come.…
I think that these events foreshadowed Okonkwo’s and the Ibo tribe’s demise because every single one of the events affected Okonkwo negatively and led to some of change in his life. It starts with Okonkwo’s father being a bum in the tribe and neglecting his responsibility to his family. His death was also degrading because his body was thrown in the forbidden forest and Okonkwo always worked towards not becoming someone like him. However, at the end Okonkwo’s “burial” is the same and he becomes the failure he tried to avoid. He considered himself a failure because he was unable to rid the tribe of the colonists because he could see that the culture was diminishing but he failed to bring the tribe to fight after his exile. He was exiled because he killed a boy at the wedding which he was invited to after he killed Ikemefuna so that he could clear his mind with a distraction. Overall, every event led to something which foreshadowed Okonkwo’s demise as well as the tribe’s.…
We all want something out of life and most of us have a plan for our lives and where exactly we want to be in 5, 10, or even 20 years. However, most of the time, those 5,10, and 20 year plans do not work out as we expected. We go through triumphs and tragedies; we grow and learn; and we eventually realize that what we have planned is probably going to change because we have changed. Over the course of my life, I have changed in a variety of ways and have overcame a number of challenges. I’ve made plans for my life and most of them did not work out, but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.…

A good life is defined differently for everyone. Our parents, friends, and the media all comprise a vision that we see as the best way of experiencing our lives. This is different for every person, because nobody follows the exact same path in life, and events influencing someone’s existence are what eventually set the course for one‘s perception of a good, fulfilling, purposeful life. In the cases of some, a good life does not have to be complex. A modest life is often more fulfilling as a busy, complicated lifestyle. Although I don’t necessarily agree that my life would be better if it were suddenly made much simpler, there are people in the world who believe that the best thing one could ask for is simplicity.…

Life can throw a person series of agreeable and ruthless experiences. Here are a few examples of what I had gone through. As a teenager I went through some difficult situations. My mother was a drinker and was abusive to my brother and me. My dad had a serious illness that had come out of nowhere and almost died from it. For example, I had to drop out of high school in my tenth grade to have a full time job so I could help my parent’s afloat with all the bills. I was able to repeat my tenth grade the following year. When I was in my senior year of high school, I got pregnant. I had only three months left of high school. I had to end up earning my GED. After I had my first son in 2008, I got married to his father. That was the worst mistake of my life. It took several years to get away from him and his family and to get a divorce. I finally was able to get back on my feet once I met the man of my dreams, Jason. I have been with him we have had another child. We have struggled finically the last few years but were able to correct our mistakes. It has taken me a long time to realize I need to get back into school to get my degree not only myself; but for my family too! I strive every day to get everything done to get my degree. I am definitely a stronger woman than I use to be. But life will throw a lot of obstacles at me. I have just learned from my mistakes along the way. I will have a successful and fulfilling life with my family and friends.…

Every time the sun rises, and a new day packed with possibilities and new opportunities and decisions to be made. As humans, we don’t always make the best decisions. Which is a good thing, without the occasional mistake we would just stay as stagnant people, never changing. In this narrative I will be addressing a drastic mistake I made in my life. About eight months ago my father passed away. I made the mistake of choosing not to spend time with him when he tried so hard to see me. This mistake resulted in regret and I have now learned from it and try especially hard to spend time with loved ones. The sad truth is, you are born alone and die alone. We are all just walking on a journey with each other and you never truly know how long you will be able to walk along with anyone. Because of that I now appreciate every second I am gifted with the people I love. I will never take anyone for granted ever again. Mistakes aren’t fun, but without them how would we ever learn?…
Everyone wishes they could changed an event in their life, myself being no exception. It almost has a weight upon me, after years, the one biggest regret in my life. The day my mother died. Her and I never had the best of relationships, she struggled with mental issues and drug abuse, and was never around me, which created a certain disconnection between the two of us. It almost seemed like a portion of my visits always ended in some form of argument. Even at a younger age I almost felt like the parent in some situations she and I were placed in, maybe due to her recklessness? Maybe it was the disabilites? Regardless, the day before she died we got into an all too common arguement. This had to do with breaking the lease on yet another duplex,…
