Physical Development Jaden Haddad is a 4-year-old boy weighing at 41 pounds, standing at 43.2 inches and having a body mass index (BMI) of 15.86 kilograms, for his age the average would be extremely similar at 40 pounds and 40 inches tall and a BMI of 22 kilograms. He just finished a growth spirt and is beginning to grow at a more consistent rate as of now. Most of the baby fat that he had as an infant is beginning to be distribute equal through his body and give him more of a lean appearance. At Jaden’s age, it is normal to expect him to grow at a rate of 4-5 pounds and 2-3 inches a year up until adulthood. At a recent check-up at the doctor he received two vaccination shots, making him up to date on everything. Jaden is a very active child who has some issues that may go away as he develops. During his visit to the doctor his prescription …show more content…
for his inhaler, due to his asthma, was also renewed during this visit and a consensus of how his food allergy to tree nuts, eczema, and anaphylaxis. According to cdc.gov about 10% of children are diagnosed with asthma, however, a new study done by the Obstructive Lung Disease study about 20% of children with asthma may “outgrow” it. For his eczema, again about 10% of children are diagnosed with it, per National Eczema.org. and about 40% of these children outgrow it. For his tree nut allergy Jaden fits in with less than 1% of other kids his age, as stated by food allergy.org, and has a 9% chance of “outgrowing” it.
At the age of four Jaden is exhibiting fine motor coordination, and can perform gross motor skills exceptionally well. Willing and able to run up to his father down the stairs and greet him as he returned home from work. He was also able to hold a fork and to pick up his dinner with it with little issues.
Cognitive Development Jaden being of age of 4 should be able to finally grow away from the ideas of egocentricism and can begin to see the world from others perspective. If you were to take something from him and hide it he will continue to look for it and even after he fails at first. Jaden is also beginning to learn how to read small simple words and can restate what the plot of a book is after it was read to him. After several minutes, however his ability to restate the plot is lessened greatly.
During Jaden’s age, he should be exhibiting stage 3 of development per Erikson’s stages of development. In this stage, Jaden, will be versing the crisis of Initiative vs Guilt. This means that during this stage when Jaden continues to develop more independence and start to do thing of their own initiative. If he is unable to take initiative and succeed at these tasks, then he may begin to felt guilt over his needs and desires.
Given his mother a survey to fill out to have his temperament measured it is revealed that Jaden’s overall temperament for his age is fairly level with what the average is for his age. The only major deviations occurred with his intensity of reaction. In this area, Jaden exhibited far higher levels of intensity of reaction while triggered, this is reasserted when he had a tantrum once the television channel was changed.
Social Development There are many factors that influence personality development per the reciprocal determinism, these factors are cognition, environment, and behavior. These three factors all relate and work with one another to develop one’s social development. For example, Jaden’s father is heavily into wresting shows, the environment that this creates for Jaden creates his cognition of interest of wrestling, since him and his brother live in the same house hold the behavior of play wrestling his brother is created.
When compared to other boys plays in the same age group Jaden is, for the most part, just like the rest. He is an aggressive child when he and his brother play, wanting to wrestle and fight. He however does not isolate himself with other males, in fact, Jaden says he has a girlfriend and they trade Pokémon cards during class. When asked about his friends he listed off a long list of males and female which also corresponds with the gender comparisons for children his age.

Subject Name: Miranda Adam
Age: 19 Years
_________________________________
Psychical Development Miranda Adam is a 19- year old girl weighing at 102 pounds and is 5’2” feet tall with a BMI of 18.7.
She has reached the maximum growth and has finished going through the stages of puberty. For her age the average is 126 pounds and 5’4” feet tall with a BMI of 18.5. Miranda stated growth was slow and had a small spurt in 8th grade that continued till 9th. After this spurt ended her growth halted and hasn’t increased since, this is a normal time for girls to reach their adult height so her stopping growing wasn’t out of the ordinary. Her first menstruation began in 7th grade at the age 13- years old which is also the average age for females in industrialized
countries. Miranda frequently gets sick and rarely goes to the doctor when she isn’t. She is also not up to date with her shots and hasn’t gotten her retainer resized since she received it during 8th grade. During puberty, she wasn’t incline to get much acne, and could find herself a solid group of friends that have stayed with her till now. Miranda being of 20 years of age has already gone through her second brain growth spurt in her frontal lobes of her cerebral cortex. Her attention span has been steadily increasing since high school she reported. This could be due to the layer of myelin that is being formed in her brain that helps her regulate her attention span. Miranda stated she has poor health habits for her age but believes she is still healthy overall due to her latest check-up at a doctor over a year ago, where she had the same health habits and around the same physical set up.
Cognitive Development
According to Erikson stages of development Miranda should be in stage 6 of cognitive development. In this stage, she is confronted with the issue of intimacy vs isolation, during this stage most people fall in love, get married and start to build their own family. If she is unable to develop intimacy with others during this stage, which lasts till the mid-30s, she may develop strong feeling of isolation. Oddly enough Miranda has yet to experience any romantic relationships yet, however, this is due to her not seeking a partner.
According to magoosh.com the average ACT test score was a 20 in the year Miranda took hers, Miranda scored slightly lower getting an 18 on it, but states it was due to her not trying very hard. She also states that her poor gpa in high school was the same reasoning with it being a 2.7 with the average in the states being a 3.1 for females.
Miranda grew up in a well supportive family that helped her develop into a strong willed and open minded adult. Her family spoke both English and Arabic interchangeable in the home so she is able to do so as well. Unlike most who grew up learning multiple languages Miranda had a very difficult time in her Spanish foreign language classes in high school, she hopes to do better in her Arabic course she has recently enrolled into at School Craft. Currently her gpa in her college courses is a 3.3, much better than her high school gpa. The reasoning for this can be due to her increased attention span due to her myelin increase, or it can also be due to her realization that her future is at stake due to the fact she hopes to be going into a nursing program and needs to get in.
Social Development Miranda has developed very strong relationships with her small groups of friends and her immediate family. They both are very important to her and has helped shaped her into the woman she is today she stated. Part of the reasoning that she wants to do so much better in college is since she will be only the second in her family to do so. This would be after her sister who is several years older than her and is applying to medical school next year. Neither her parents or her brother completed college themselves so it’s something that would mean a lot to her and her loved ones. Miranda stated that she never felt the urge to seek a romantic partner in her life because of her middle eastern heritage. In it, it’s not uncommon for the daughters to date very little or not at all during adolescence. She also stated that she isn’t actively seeking new friendships either, she said would greet someone new if they began the conversation but she would not seek to extend the conversation or even start it herself. IN conclusion, everyone is unique in their own way but being for the most part we all develop physically and psychologically similar. There are many different types of developmental changes and the person one is during early childhood can change completely by they time one raches adult hood. Some of these changes range from physical growth, your perception of the world around you, overall intelligence, and even social skills can change completely. These aspects can change due to many factors such as family and peer relationships, geographic location, and even the cultures you’re exposed too. In the end everyone for the most part do grow and develop, just the rate and in what direction is what varies.
