‘Do I play basketball? Of course I don’t...how does one answer this question when a whole group of guys are staring and expecting an obvious yes(thought)... “Hells yeah, I play b-ball.” At first I wonder who said that because I don’t talk like that, but I must have heard it somewhere since those are the words that fly from my mouth.’
This quote shows that since Dunkin wants to fit in with them because he thinks these guys ‘might be my key to fitting in’. Attempting to act cool, he doesn’t be his true self, and say things that he would never say. I believe that he tried his best and let anxiety and nervousness got the best of him, and therefore, I say again, it’s not his fault, it's more so the intimidating guys.
