Lincoln Park Involvement Report

I attended the Lincoln Park Involvement Fair and stopped at around fifteen booths. I am from out of state and want to find a community of students that share the same interests, ideals, and morals as I do. I completely surprised myself and rushed a co-educational business fraternity and a multicultural/social sorority. I never in a million years thought I’d rush not only one, but two Greek organizations. I attended the recruitment week events and met current members and other potentials. The business co-educational fraternity really appealed to me because of the professionalism and social aspect. Most of the upperclassmen that I talked to have had multiple internships. The brothers help each other and pass down internships and help build connections.
This organization can help me get an internship that could possibly lead to a full time job offer. I interviewed for the fraternity, but did not receive a bid. The multicultural sorority appealed to me because I only have an older brother and always wanted a sister. I liked the seven values that the sorority was founded on. I interviewed and received a bid. I accepted and started the learning process. However due to personal reasons I have left the program. I am working on getting involved with organizations that do not require such a time commitment. Tomorrow night I am attending the student ambassadors information meeting. Next week I will start going to the weekly DePaul College Republican meetings. It will be good for me to surround myself with peers that share the same views as me. I’m double majoring in accounting and finance. There are probably over ten businesses organizations that I can be a part of. In the spring I will try to become a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honoray accounting organization.
