Lincoln Speech Analysis

The persuasion scenario our group choose to observe is the events that happen in United States of America in 19th century. It’s the President Abraham Lincoln famous Gettysburg address. One of the main points for Lincoln when he giving this speech is to persuade both union and confederate (two different sides during the civil war) citizens to come join together to create the new equal and justice United States. This persuasion speech made me known why many people saw him as the great man. He did not antagonize, nor did he show disrespect to the dead, even those who fought for the Confederacy (who is oppose to Lincoln administration). He treated them all as people of one country, and honored them all equally. Lincoln’s respect for every man living, fighting and dying in the war gave the Gettysburg Address its lasting power. Lincoln gave hope not only to his grief-stricken audience but to an entire nation torn apart by war.
How to Identify Lincoln?
Our group thinks that Lincoln is Intuitive-Thinking types of people. Lincoln have a core believed that fairness is very important and everyone should be equal. He like to analyzed and create impersonal option. He believes that every things is possible. This made him decide to have slavery system in United States abolished .Lincoln have almost every characteristics of Intuitive –Thinking people : he sees many things at once, views the big picture, contains perspective, is heart centered, oriented in space and time, and tends to the real or concrete. His Intuition- Thinking style really help him to become one of the greatest president in American history. When analytical thinking is inadequate: under time pressure, where conditions are dynamic, where the differentiation between observer and observed is unclear like when Lincoln take a seat as a President during the civil war.
