Lindsay is raised on a farm, by her father and mother, but her mother is assumed to be dead now. Her father had the farm, and due to that, he is very absorbed about animals being sold locally. Lindsay also got the interest for animals, which you can see when she talks about her being a “flexitarian”; “There’s nothing wrong with eating a little animal protein now and then, as long as the chicken was free to peck and play or the cow was properly pastured.” …show more content…
For an example, she corrects her father’s way of picking up a wineglass, simply by saying “By the stem, dad”. Lindsay likes to be political correct and to be appreciated for her skills, which is seen through the whole short story. She finds it wrong to use the Rickshaw, which she expresses as soon as J.P mentions it; “Rickshaw? I’m not comfortable with… with another human being pulling me like an animal – ” Lindsay wants to do her best, that is why she gets a bit disappointed of her assignment as she thinks she is overqualified. “After getting over her initial displeasure at the assignment’s complete underuse of her skills, she took her advisor’s suggestion to pitch in and be adaptable to heart.” but in her endeavour to help the ones who are less fortunate, she decided to pitch
