Oligarchy
What is an oligarchy? An oligarchy is a type of government where all the political power of a country resides within a small elite group of people. In this small elite group, they control every political aspect, and the citizens have no say in what the government does. Oftentimes, oligarchies result in a fine division between rich and poor, and the leaders of such states are often corrupted with their ruling power. In the state of Sobak, the citizens are ruled by an oligarchy.
Sobak first started off as an island, inhabited by the Motcho. They lived on the small island of present day Venus, on the continent of Oreph. However, in 937 A.D., Andrea and Queenslund had a relentless war, later dubbed the Queen

There are no political parties, just the one, and no official branches, because all the power and responsibility falls onto the eight members. However, there may be unofficial divisions within the council, such as 2 members dealing with laws and so forth. Admiral Absolon Arravitzo was the first leader of Sobak. Arravitzo fought the most bravely in the Queen Andrea’s War and naturally became the first leader in the origins of Sobak. However, Arravitzo didn’t want the responsibility all to herself, so she selected seven other people and formed the Sobakian Constellation. These seven people were chosen by their wealth and status. Together, these eight members drafted and enacted the Serenity Scrolls of Sobak, and this described how the constellation retained their power. Power is equally distributed between these members, with the exception of Arravitzo and her successors tending to have slightly more power. Otherwise, the other members have equal power to one another, and the citizens having none at …show more content…
The citizens of Sobak have no influence on the choices the government makes for their lives. Every month or every time the occasion calls for it, the eight members of the Sobakian Constellation meet in the Quattor Chambers and come to a consensus among themselves. If a member is not able to attend a meeting, then they set up a private, secure video call. Only the eight can make and influence these government decisions. Therefore, the inhabitants of Sobak cannot contribute their opinions to the government, and the government takes no views of the common folk into account when making decisions. The citizens have no impact and cannot vote for any of their leaders, and the only influence is within the small rich constellation who holds all the

    2. Many of our terms for describing the distribution of political power are derived from the ancient Greeks, who were the first Western people to study politics systematically. A society in which political decisions were controlled by a small group was called an oligarchy, meaning rule by a few members of the elite, who generally benefited themselves. Another form of rule by the few was known as aristocracy, meaning rule by the most virtuous, the most talented, or the best suited to the position. Later in European history, aristocracy meant rule by the titled or the upper classes. In contrast to such a top-down form of control was the form known as anarchy, or the condition of no government. Anarchy exists when each individual makes his or her own rules for behavior, and there are no laws and no…

The first one is a monarchy. A monarchy is defined as a form of government in which power is vested in hereditary kings and queens who govern in the interests of all. One example of this type of government would be England. A second type of government is totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is a form of government in which power resides in a leader who rules based on his self-interest and has no regard for individual rights and liberties. A prime example of this would be Iraq when Suddam Hussein was in power. Just from that example alone we can completely come to similar conclusion of the definition itself. Americans are conditioned to see our present form of government as a representative democracy where power is in the hands of all the people. Until this assignment I realize did not understand plutocracy or the fact that we may already be living in a plutocracy. A plutocracy is defined as "government by the wealthy." A political system where power is concentrated in the hands of a small number of wealthy people, usually those with inherited wealth and wealthy families. At the top of every society an ironic mixture of those who are there by merit and capability and those who merely grab, hoard, and wield power and wealth. Every nation has its many, the general populace, and its few, the elite who dominate, rule, and favor themselves with wealth and privilege. It is and always has been the way of the world. It is not difficult to understand why this is so, why every society and nation forms itself into the many and the dominant few.…
