I agree that cancer was correlated to increased animal protein intake. I agree grass is very high in cancer fighting nitrilosides. The Hopi Indians have had cancer rates of 1 in 1000 as opposed to 1 in 4 for the typical American. Many cultures and tribes around the world are "rumored" to be cancer free. The modern way of raising livestock and poultry might cause high cancer rate. They eat plants high in nitrilosides. If they eat plants they are more health than we are. I agree with some things the author thinks in the article.…
Sandra Steingraber, an acclaimed ecologist, biologist, author, and cancer survivor has spent years educating others on the environmental factors that contribute to reproductive health problems and various types of cancers. Her book titled Living Downstream, which was first published in 1997, was one of the first books to bring together the data on environmental toxicity and the data on cancer incidences in an effort to expose any patterns that may exists. The result is an intriguing personal narrative, in which Steingraber breaks down a wealth of scientific data and medical literature into an easily comprehendible analysis of the relationship between environmental factors such as the food we ingest, the water we drink, and air that we breathe, and the land on which we live and work, to cancers of all kinds.…

During the late 1980's, some researchers believed that there may be a link between oral contraceptives and some cancers. However the findings of the Women's Contraceptive and Reproductive Experiences (Women's CARE), examined the use of oral contraceptives as a risk factor for breast cancer in women ages 35-64. Researchers interviewed 4,575 women who were diagnosed with breast cancer between 1994 and 1998 and 4,682 women who did not have breast cancer. Investigators collected detailed information about the participants' use of oral contraceptives, reproductive history, health, and family history. The results, which were published in 2002, indicated that the current or former use of oral contraceptives did not significantly increase the risk of breast cancer. The findings were similar for white and black women. Factors such as longer periods of use, higher doses of estrogen, initiation of oral contraceptives use before age 20 and breast cancer were not associated with an increase risk of…

Breast cancer is affecting women from different ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs and now age. Many women might not know that breast cancer is increasing more in younger women than in older women. Young women need to educate themselves about breast cancer, read statistics, find ways breast cancer might be or can be prevented and find ways to push themselves to live a healthier lifestyle. Many young women may think breast cancer is caused because of old age and inherited by a family member. Although, breast cancer may seem trivial to many young women, it is in fact crucial in terms of today's concern over breast cancer in younger women…
Breast cancer is a type of cancer, which is characterized by local uncontrolled cells growth and spread of abnormal cells in one or both breasts, which is the most common cancer in women around the world (Jemal et al., 2011). In Australia, over 12,614 (28%) women were diagnosed invasive breast cancer in 2006, and the number will keep on growing (AIHW, 2009). In 2006, a total of 2,618 women died from breast cancer; leading to the second cause of death for Australian women. However, the mortality rate of breast cancer had been decreasing since 1994 and the outcomes for breast cancer women have improved significantly…
The most significant factors for breast cancer are gender and age, two things that are beyond our control. Although men get breast cancer too, women’s breast cells are constantly changing and growing, due to the activity of the female hormones; estrogen and progesterone. This activity puts them at risk for breast cancer. Simply growing older is the second biggest factor for breast cancer. From age 30 to 39, the risk is 1 in 233, that jumps to 1 in 27 by the time you’re in your 60s. Approximately 2/3 of invasive breast cancers are diagnosed in women age 55 or older…
There is convincing evidence that alcohol consumption increases the risk of breast cancer. (23, 24) In a combined analysis of six large prospective studies involving more than 320,000 women, researchers found that having two or more drinks a day increased the chances of developing breast cancer as much as 41 percent. (23)…
