There are many articles that research a broad aspect of study abroad. One paper was done by The Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) entitled “Study Abroad: A Lifetime of Benefits”. They made efforts to explore the long-term impact this experience has on individuals. This IES study looked at the research from a different perspective. Though this study, they found out the regardless of time and place, the study abroad experience will impact an individuals’ life. This is because by studying in a foreign country, it influences their choices. People become more aware of the outside world and learn how to cope in different cultural situations and adapt. They surveyed many students and based conclusions on their feedback.
The IES targeted students and alumni from all their programs from 1950-1999 and conducted a survey. These participants were asked to respond to questions about their intercultural experience, personal and academic experiences. However; instead of just getting a broad research about the experience on a study abroad, they were determined to actually get statistical information of the long
