Little Boy Child Observation
I observed three little boys on the climber and there was some unsafe action happening. Nick the little boy in the blue shirt and tan pants was climbing up the climber using the steps and wooden part of the slide with a wooden toy in his hands. There was another boy who was climbing up the climber walking, pushing a wooden toy up with him. The third boy was climbing up the steps. When Nick got to the top of the slide he slides down really fast. The other boys did not wait, they rushed down all fast with wooden toys spread across the front. Nick ran from the slide to a car where another child was playing with it but he took it over. He did not talk to the child just burst in and started placing his cars on the rack to slide. Nick was doing parallel play with the children in his …show more content…
Another child asked the teacher what she was doing. She said “She was taking a picture of Nick with the cars.” In the classroom the toys were all over the place and no labels. A little boy was putting the lid on a bucket of toys and he took the top off and poured the toys out started playing with it. The boy walked away who was playing first and Nick started playing with the object for a few then got up and walked over to a corner with other friends. The little boy was playing with a car seat that had a slide for it to slide to the bottom in circles. Nick joined in beside the child just started to play with the cars placing his son and watching it slide. He was in the car set; something behind him had him staring at it for a minute. He looked over to the teacher and saw she was recording him, so he got up and got in front of the camera. He walks away from it and then says something to the teacher. She said “Now you noticed me recording; I am all done.” To be honest, I really didn’t learn anything from the video. I deal with these kinds of kids all day long and the behavior is normal for Nick’s

The teacher in this video has complete control of her classroom. She clearly expects the students to act when asked, and she cues them with verbal directions and nonverbal hand motions. She does not have to repeat herself, nor do any students seem confused of defiant. An excellent example of this is when she directs the students to pick up their hand chimes, play them, and then stop. I have had experience with this age group of students, and understand how difficult it can be for this age of students to not become distracted by an instrument and impulsively play it. However, the students in video case #0079 show restraint and proper behavior when they are instructed to stop playing. Her expectations and routines have created a learning climate where the students are at ease and engaged, display respect for the structure of her classroom, and display appropriate…

I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. Trying her best to calm her down, since the child was throwing around her body while the…

One day on placement a child (child A) was upset because another child (child B) wouldn’t let her play with the trains too. Child A came to me crying and told me that Child B wouldn’t let her play with the trains, I went to find to find child B at the trains table and asked him if he said Child A couldn’t play with the trains. He said that he did because there wasn’t enough room for child A to play at the train table even though he was the only one person plating there. In turn I said child B there is enough room, 3 people can play here at a time and asked “what do we do at school with toys” he replied I don’t know, so I asked child A if she knew and could help child B, she said we share them. At this point the class teacher came over and asked if everything was alright. I explained the situation, She then asked child B if that was right and he said “Now, she wouldn’t let me play with the trains”. The teacher conversed with the children to try and get a clear picture of what had happened and then said to me that I could deal with child B’s behaviour in the way that we usually do. Child A went on to play with the trains and I took child B to one side went down to his level and explained to him that he needs to sit on the chair in the other room and think about what he had done and why you must tell the truth and why it is important to share toys. In 5 minutes I went back and asked if he had thought about what I asked him to he said yes and told me that school toys are for everyone and do not belong to him and that lying is a bad thing to do and gets you in trouble. I told him that was right and asked what he needs to do now. He said say sorry to child A. I let him go and apologise to child A and he then went on to share the trains…

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

One of the boys wanted the other boy to paly cards with him. Thus, he picked up cards and attacked that boy. And then the other boy used cards to protect himself from the attack. In fact, the situation was dangerous because the cards were not toys. It was large and had sharp edges. Maybe cards would scratch them. It was a challenging situation for me because I was not sure whether I should stop them rigorously. At this time, a club employee came up and stopped them. He seriously told them that played these cards would make them hurt. Therefore, the children were aware of such acts threaten their safety, and then they started to play with toys obediently. This hazardous situation also lifted. This situation had a positive result because the two children understood that this behavior was unsafe by the rebuke of staff. And they also found that this behavior was wrong, and probably would hurt them, so they will not do…

In an evening spent at a local park, I observed two toddlers playing on the playground. Both toddlers were about the same size and height, and they were seemingly about two years of age. These two children stood out to me because though they seemed about the same age, their behavior on the playground was very different. As I observed, both subtle and large differences began to make themselves apparent.…

I found a red flag word in you observation when you say " the upset child", upset is an emotion and people and children express of different way, so it is better describe how the child shows that she is upset. maybe, she doesn't want to play or she shows a different expression or she says something. I think that you can give more details about how she express her emotion verbal and not verbal. Also, you can describe where they are doing the activity because sometimes the environment affect the motivation of a child to do a specific activity.…
