In comparing The Grimm Brother’s “Little Red Cap” and Sharon Singer’s paintings of the infamous little red riding hood story, there are numerous similarities to be found. Singer’s painting “Fast Food”, depicts a dark and uncanny scene in which naked doll lies at the foot of bloody wolf paws. The naked doll in Singer’s bleak painting represents the vulnerability of Little Red Cap during her encounters with the wolf. Little Red Cap description as a “dear little girl” who was loved by anyone who “set eyes on her” works into Little Red Cap’s childish aurora connected by Singer’s naked doll (Tatar 13). The Grimm Brothers explain Little Red Cap “had no idea what a wicked beast [the wolf] was” during their first meeting, which characterizes Little Red Cap as a helpless and harmless young girl, with no knowledge of the dangers of society, such as a child (Tatar 14). Therefore, assessing Little Red Cap defenseless and innocent nature, there is a connection portrayed through the unclothed doll that lies at the foot of the wolf. In the painting from Singer, the wolf’s bloody paws are also seen under a red cloth, which can be concluded as two things from the story. One, the red cloth is Little Red Cap’s…

I can’t say I’m astonished by the State Board of Education’s decision to ban “To Kill a Mockingbird”. After all, what can you expect from such short-minded people? Such people that regrettably are put in the position to judge what books are moral and fit to be read by young adults. Is it the book’s display of what really happens in the world, or the book’s lessons of protecting innocence and standing up for what you see as right, that makes this book so disgraceful, that we must shelter young minds from?…

The reason Atticus said ¨It is a sin to kill a Mockingbird¨ is because the mockingbirds do not do anything to us but sing. Atticus is also comparing people to being a mockingbird. Just like Boo Radley because it is not his fault he is a recluse, he leaves the house just to save Scout and Jem from Bob Ewell, therefore risking become the town hero. What Atticus is trying to say is that to not judge people by what they look like. Have standards and stick to them no matter what happens to them. He says it is not a sin to kill a bluejay, because bluejays represent bullies, racism, and the anger in everyone. Some of the examples for the bluejays are Bob Ewell, and the mad dog that Atticus attacks. When someone kills a bluejay it represents stopping…

For my Rhetoric-In-Practice (RIP), I decided to write fracture fairy tales on "Hansel and Gretel", "The Little Red Riding Hood" and "The Ugly Duckling". I take upon the role of Rory Madden, an experienced children's author promoting his newest book The Modernize Collection of Fairy Tales on his website. In my book, each fairy tale is revamped to target a modern audience and to address a specific issue with children and modern technology. My collection of fairy tales targets two audiences, my primary audience is third and fourth graders; meanwhile, my secondary audience is parents.…

I decided to rewrite the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” because it seemed very fitting in relation to my topic of rape. In the story, Little Red is tricked by a wolf into taking off her red hood that protects her from wolves. She is then attacked by the wolf, and afterwards she runs to the village begging for help. Unfortunately no one will help her; they give the responses countless give to victims of sexual assault, and so Little Red cries. Then a hunter decides to help her and teaches her how to defend herself, they kill the wolf and Little Red is never a victim again. However, unlike this story, most rape victims never receive a happy ending, and never receive justice.…

The wolf who is the only male character in the text presents with all the desires and characteristics a man has especially on sexual desire. From the detail, little red riding hood is a naive and innocent girl who doesn't afraid talking to a male stranger. Mallet reveals that the little girl is acting innocent because the mother tells her don't leave the path, but she apparently ignores her mother by talks to the wolf and walks into the forest. Already, the reader is presented with the gender stereotype that young girls must listen their mothers, As the mother warns her daughter not to stray from the path. But along her way, Little Red Riding Hood comes across a wolf, who sees that Little Red would make an enjoyable meal. The Wolf lured Little Red to from the path to distract her so that The Wolf may find his way her grandmother’s house. With Little Red distracted, The Wolf rapidly makes his way to grandmother’s house and feeds on her. Now, Little Red had defied her mother, and was somewhere she should not belong. Little Red then is swindled by The Wolf and devoured. These all play into the gender stereotypes that women are vulnerable and lack obedience and men take advantage of that. The moral of the story seems to be, if little girls do not listen to their mothers, do not stay on the path, and are fooled by wolves, disobedient little girls will be eaten. The gender roles and stereotypes in “Little Red Riding Hood” may be corrupting to young girls, but in comparison to the gender roles of men in the story, it seems that males can have all the…

First, the title of the poem grabs your attention and reminds you of “Little Red Riding Hood”, a children’s fairy tale surrounding the life of one little girl. This is clever, as it sets the readers mind to thinking about the story, which means that the reader can connect all of the similarities in the poem to the children’s story, for example when the girl said, “What big eyes he had, what teeth!”, referring back to the wolf or antagonist in the story. The poem “Little red cap” is among others where Duffy has based this poem on a fairytale story, in this case little red riding hood. However, this poem has a few differences to the original version of the story. For example, this poem uses imagery to create a sexual feeling, where as the original fairytale was not in any way sexual, but had a more simplistic idea of a good little girl as little red riding hood and a very bad wolf who tricks her. The wolf in this poem is portrayed to the reader as a good character, and Little Red Cap as the sneaky one who appears to know what she is doing in order to get what she wants.…
