Although, it is understandable for America to want to help and do good in this situation, but quite frankly as someone who has been to a third world country and has first hand seen this child labor; it’s not needed. Maria works in a factory and she processes flowers so it can be exported to other countries. Because there are not enough provisions in the family to support them, she works long hours just to get half the amount of the average minimum wage in America. Maria just discovered she was pregnant and as any normal woman she experienced temporary sickness. After throwing up and fainting, instead of allowing her to take a recommended amount time away from work, her boss began insulting her and demanding her to proceed. After this situation, Maria decided it was time for her to quit the job although she had no other source of income. Because of the extremely poor condition her family was in after she quit, she joined a cartel and swallowed pills (while carrying a baby) and smuggled them out of the country.
