The Western Australian Department of health, partnered the Heart Foundation WA and Cancer Counsel WA to create a new campaign that promoted healthy eating, physical activity and to maintain a healthy weight. In June 2012 Live Lighter was made. Through social media, online and offline resources and retailers the campaign engages with the community of Western Australia. Live Lighter was so successful that in 2014, Live Lighter was extended to Victoria.
Main aims and goals?
Live Lighter is a campaign that aims to promote the negative effects of: fatty foods, drinking alcohol
The lack of physical activity.
And aims to promote the positive effects of: a healthy diet regular activity
Live Lighter has the goals of:
Increase awareness of how being overweight can cause chronic disease.
Increase the understanding of the risks associated with poor lifestyle choices.
Support the trial, adoption and maintenance of healthy eating, physical activity and healthy weight.
Encourage public debate about obesity and the changes that need to be taken by community to support healthy eating and regular activity.
To reassure what needs to be done to make sure the healthy chice is the easy choice.
Who are they aimed at?
3 in 5 Australian adults are overweight or obese (based on BMI). That's over 12 million people! This is why Live Lighter’s primary target is adults aged between 25 and 64.
Their secondary target is families. This is because adults influence their children on their eating habits and lifestyle.
