Live Musical Performances Essay
This semester I have experience many live musical performances. Some of these performances have let me down but for the most part, these performances have been everything I ever expected. My two favorite performances this semester were Festival Vallenato and Ultra Music Festival. Although these two types of music are different in every way possible, the people and the performers are exactly where I feel I am in the right place.
Both of these events were held in Bayfront Park. This is a very famous location to host events like Festival Vallenato and Ultra Music Festival. Bayfront Park is located 301 north Biscayne Boulevard Miami, Florida. This park is home to events year round.
The park began construction in 1924 and was officially opened in March 1925. Bayfront Park is maintained by the Bayfront Park Management Trust. Bayfront Park is bordered on the north by Bayside Marketplace and the American Airlines Arena, on the south by Chopin Plaza, on the west by Biscayne Boulevard and on the east by Biscayne Bay. Bayfront Park is host to many large events such as the New Year's ball drop, Christmas celebrations, concerts, the Bayfront Park Amphitheater, the Tina Hills Pavilion, as well as boat tours around Biscayne Bay.
Festival Vallenato was at the beginning of this semester. On February 26, 2012 a group of friends and I put on our most Colombian attire and headed for this event. This festival begins at 12:00 and ends at 11:45 with non-stop Vallenatos playing throughout the almost twelve hours.
Colombia. This festival is all about being Colombian. Yes, other nationalities are found there and different people go to this festival because they enjoy the music but for the most part, this is a Colombian’s paradise. To most of the Colombian community that lives in Miami and in near places this festival is not just a concert, it is not just a party but it is a tradition to go and enjoy the music that comes straight out of our land.
Festival Vallenato attracts so many

The Concert (A Musical Party) is an oil on canvas, Baroque period painting completed by the Flemish painter Theodoor Rombouts circa 1620. The work portrays a group of five costumed musicians around a table covered with a Persian tapestry rug. Of the five performers, there are four men and one woman. The four men are playing various instruments, the woman appearing to be the vocalist. The play of deep shadows and bright highlights present in this painting make the overall use of chiaroscuro more pronounced, reflecting the strong influence of Caravaggio, a revolutionary Italian painter who Rombouts studied under. Caravaggio’s works, which combine the realistic rendering of the human state with a dramatic use of lighting, had a formative effect…

Overall, I enjoyed my attendance at the concert choir held at Benedictine University. The show was well done and I could tell that the members of the choir worked very hard in preparation. Although there were eight songs, the concert went by fairly quick. There was only one baby grand piano in the middle of the stage, but other than that, it was interesting to see that no other instruments were used except for their own voices and they were able to project an excellent performance for the…

The first part is Festival Chorus. They have organized very well. There are a lot of kids sing on the stage. All the songs are well prepared; everyone performs different parts in a song. All of them mix in a perfect way, it sounds much more professional. Sometimes cadence, while sometimes is melodious. I really enjoy them. The audiences give a shower of applause to all the singers. This first part is a really good start of the entire concert.…

On February 19, 2015, Jared Blum at the Sacramento State University had his first concert of the spring semester featuring plenty of special guests. This concert was presented as partial fulfillment of the requirements that he needs for his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. Jared Blum, with his special guests (Megan Spurlock on the clarinet, Morgan Childres on the trombone, the Jazz Combo, the Jazz Essemble, and other special guests), collectively performed nine pieces along with a medley that compromised of three songs at the concert. Prior to taking this course, one of the first questions that I asked myself was “what do I know about jazz?” I have always consociated jazz music with the African American culture, mainly because of the general idea of how jazz music can give off a “bluesy” rhythm. Little did I know how diverse jazz music can be. “Creole Belles”, “Creep”, and the medley that compromised of “When you’re smiling”, “Swing that music”, and “Shiek of Araby” are the pieces that allowed the audience, including myself, to experience the diversity of jazz music.…

Monique attended the Swing class at Ambient Studio on March 14, 2009 to heard and dance to the rhythms and sounds of the Etowah Jazz Society. The concert was from 9pm to 12 am in the morning. There look is like a big band but they have a swing feel to them. The bands whole persona is that of a big band that you would see on a dance television show back in the older days. There sound was very mellow and not loud at all. After Monique talked to a couple of the members in the band I found out that there influences on music where commonly set around the swing era, big band jazz, and Natalie Cole. The band is comprised of 18 members who all have different skill levels. When watching the band it looked as though the brass section was more skilled…
